Dave Edwards says Jorgen Strand Larsen has one trait that is genuinely ‘so good’, Wolves fans will surely agree

Wolves crashed to another defeat in the Premier League against Bournemouth, but Dave Edwards was full of praise for one player in old gold.

Gary O’Neil is back under pressure at Wolves, with Bournemouth winning 4-2 at Molineux on Saturday.

After four games without defeat, it’s back to losing ways for Wolves, who pretty much gifted Bournemouth three points.

Wolves conceded three penalties, and there was some really amateurish defending on show at times.

It was a very frustrating result, but there was one positive in that Jorgen Strand Larsen continued his good goalscoring form.

No player in the league has more non-penalty goals since the start of October than Strand Larsen, and he’ll have been frustrated to see his efforts not count for more.

But Dave Edwards has heaped praise on Wolves’ number nine, and reckons he was one fantastic trait.

Strand Larsen is really starting to prove his worth in a Wolves shirt.

He’s now up to six goals in the Premier League, and has also provided three assists.

The summer signing from Celta Vigo, who is expected to be bought permanently for around £25 million in total, has been contributing in a big way. Although sadly, Wolves are still yet to win a game in which he’s scored.

But his efforts aren’t lost on Edwards, who is a big fan of the Norwegian – and his work-rate in particular.

He said: “The positives are Jorgen Strand Larsen’s form, I thought he was fantastic on Saturday.

“His work rate is so good, he is constantly putting the backline under pressure, and he is getting himself in the box and scoring goals which is great to see.

“It was a good header for the first one and a cool, calm finish for the second one.

“He is starting to get his numbers. But Wolves will potentially be disappointed they did not get enough crosses into the box, especially in that second half.”

A few weeks ago, former Wolves full-back Lee Naylor also praised Strand Larsen for his work-rate, saying the star ‘just doesn’t stop’.

Strand Larsen can drag Wolves to safety, but he needs help

It’s been a really bright start from Strand Larsen in a Wolves shirt.

Some questionable transfer deals were done in the summer, but he certainly doesn’t fall into that category.

Strand Larsen is the player Wolves have needed for a long time. Arguably, they’ve needed someone like him from the moment Raul Jimenez suffered that awful head injury.

It’s great Wolves have someone like him now, and he and also Matheus Cunha have the potential to drag Wolves to safety this season.

But the attacking duo need help from their defenders. It must be extremely frustrating to make so many goal contributions, only for one of the defenders to go and undo the hard work.
