Wolves are looking to improve considerably at the international break, especially in defence.
It has been a rough start for Wanderers in 2025/26, losing the first three Premier League games.
It was always going to be difficult facing Manchester City, Bournemouth and Everton to begin with, and frustratingly, Wanderers are currently the only team in the league without a point.
So far, Wolves have been a bag of nerves at the back.
It’s 10 goals conceded so far in the four games Wolves have played, and it’s clear Vitor Pereira has to get his backline in order.
And Dave Edwards believes new signing Ladislav Krejci could be a very good solution.

Wolves told Krejci could help defence become less nervous

Krejci joined Wolves from Girona for a £6 million loan fee in the summer window.
The move is effectively a permanent one, with Wolves required to pay a further £20 million next summer once he’s made a certain amount of appearances.
Vitor Pereira has talked up Krejci already, indicating that he may well become a regular starter sooner rather than later.
And Dave Edwards is keen to watch him in action, having dropped a very positive verdict on the player earlier this week.
He said: “I think this is an exciting signing. I think Vitor has made it obvious that we need more support on the left side of defence, a left-footer.
“Just maybe, I know Wolves were looking for another midfielder as well, but he has the ability to play in there as well.
“I think he will bring, I feel we look a little bit nervy on the ball at the back at the moment. The composure isn’t quite there as what we’ve seen in recent years.
“I think he will definitely add that so it’ll be interesting to see how quickly Vitor wants to get him into the team.
“Lovely left foot, very calm, looks a little bit like Fer Lopez in terms of the height he’s got and the elegance, the way he travels with the ball.
“He’s got wonderful ability, strong in the tackle. And if you’ve got a centre-half taking penalties, you know they can play. He will add a different dimension on that left side. He’ll step in and put crosses into the box, he’s good in the air as well because he’s a big lad.
“I think there’s a lot of up sides to this signing. I think he can develop into a top defender.”
Wolves need immediate impact from Krejci
Edwards is right, Wolves have looked nervy at the back this season, so a calming presence coming in will be most welcome.
The form of Emmanuel Agbadou is a real concern right now, and Toti Gomes has also struggled. These two players were pretty formidable in the second half of last season, so to have lost that at the moment is far from ideal.
Pereira may well bring Krejci into the starting XI against Newcastle.
And if that is the case, hopefully he’ll make an instant impact.
As with all the other signings Wolves have made, he does not have any prior Premier League experience, making his move a gamble.
But there’s no doubt he’s a player with ability, and hopefully we will see him bring some real composure to the backline and spread confidence to others who need it right now.
