Dave Edwards makes worrying Wolves comparison as he says what this season feels like

Dave Edwards has compared this season to one that he played for Wolves many years ago, which is a worrying outlook.

Edwards played for the club from 2008 to 2017, and he has experienced many highs but just as many lows throughout his time, and right now the club is going through a big low.

It feels like a matter of when and not if for Vitor Pereira’s dismissal, but right now Jeff Shi is still convinced the Portuguese is the right man for Wolves.

The 57-year-old’s decisions this season have been awful, and they have no doubt played a part in the current struggles of the club.

Relegation is looking likelier as each matchday passes, and Dave Edwards is starting to feel that the atmosphere is similar to one of Wolves’ worst ever seasons during his time.

Dave Edwards believes this season feels like the 2012/2013 Championship season

Dave Edwards has appeared on talkSPORT to discuss the current situation at Wolves, and the former Old Gold player does not have a great feeling about this season so far.

Back in 2012/2013, Edwards was part of a Wolves side that got relegated from the Championship down to League One.

It was a disastrous campaign, and it put the Molineux side in England’s third tier just two years after being in the Premier League.

At the moment, Edwards feels this season has similar feelings within the ground, and he discussed it with another former Wanderer, Jamie O’Hara, over on talkSPORT.

Edwards said, “I think the only way the fans can really showcase their feelings is at Molineux on a match day. It’s difficult otherwise. You see all the online noise everywhere, but actually on that match day at a performance, that’s where the fans can really vocalise their disappointment.

“They’re not happy with the ownership. There’s some unhappiness with the manager as well, which has happened so quickly after things were terrific at the end of last season.

“The way he turned the football club around from Christmas time to the end of the season was brilliant, because we looked dead and buried before that. I thought that would have given him a lot of credit in the bank, but you can’t go ten Premier League games without a win. It goes beyond that as well. You’re looking back to last season too, and there’s going to be a lot of pressure on you.

“It’s very similar, Jay, to the season when you and I were there and got relegated from the Championship. There’s that sort of angst in the stadium, and it’s a difficult environment as a player to play. Obviously, you get paid well, and you’ve got to go there and do it, but it does make it difficult as a footballer, especially when you’re on that pitch and the atmosphere is ready to turn.”

November could define Wolves’ season

There needs to be a turnaround this month for Wolves to have any hopes of staying up; however, the fixtures are not kind.

Fulham are the easiest out of their four November matchups, with difficult clashes against Chelsea, Crystal Palace, and Aston Villa on the horizon and only one game at home.

There is a chance they enter December still without a win and on a winless run of 13 Premier League games this season and 17 including the end of the last campaign.

It is dire straits at Wolves right now, and Chris Sutton’s prediction for Fulham vs Wolves will not make for kind reading for the Old Gold.
