Dave Edwards makes two big demands of the Wolves players for Burnley clash

Wolves will once again try to get their first Premier League win of the season this weekend, with Burnley in town at Molineux.

The game has now become huge for Wolves, after losing last weekend against Sunderland.

Wolves fans were left hugely disappointed by the performance and defeat, especially after it had looked like Wolves were making improvements.

But now there will be big pressure on the players to deliver at Molineux.

Pereira has said the game with Burnley is ‘must-win’, and it is hard to argue with that. For Wolves to get anything other than three points against the Clarets would be a disaster.

After that demoralising defeat to Sunderland, fans are not exactly optimistic of a victory against Burnley.

But Edwards believes Wolves can get a win if they manage to do two crucial things.

Edwards wanted to see Wolves frustrate the Sunderland crowd at the Stadium of Light, but the visitors were atrocious in the first 20 minutes of that game.

They didn’t do that, and then found themselves 1-0 down to a goal from Nordi Mukiele, which meant they had to chase the game.

For the game with Burnley, Edwards has again called for Wolves to play in a way that affects the crowd – this time positively, with the game being at Molineux.

The former Old Gold midfielder wants to see a fast start, and he is also keen for the players to show some bravery during a potentially tricky afternoon.

He said in his latest E&S column: “We must start fast against Burnley and when we have in previous games, we’ve done well. The players need to get the Molineux crowd behind them – their backs are up against the walls now and Pereira needs his men to come out fighting.

“If there’s any adversity in the game they have to stick together because it’ll be a difficult atmosphere at Molineux.

“They have to be brave, demand the ball and want to be the one that tries to make things happen. Be the player that wins the game for Wolves, not the one that worries about making a mistake or being the fall guy.”

Wolves cannot let Burnley take the lead at Molineux

If there is one thing that Wolves cannot allow to happen this weekend, it’s Burnley taking the lead at Molineux.

Fans are already extremely frustrated, angry and upset – and Wolves going a goal down to the Clarets could make Molineux very hostile indeed.

And a hostile crowd is surely going to inhibit the Wolves players rather than inspire or galvanise them.

So Wolves simply cannot allow themselves to be in a losing position. As Edwards says, the players must forget about form and the games that have preceded, and come out flying out of the traps.

In a home game against a newly promoted side with Wolves desperate for points, a failure to start fast would be unacceptable
