Wolves are currently fighting a relegation battle, and Dave Edwards reckons one decision the club have made will really boost their chances of staying up.
It’s been a tough old season so far at Molineux, with results and performances poor under former manager Gary O’Neil.
O’Neil was sacked just before Christmas, with Vitor Pereira coming in to replace him.
Pereira has made a decent start so far, winning three of the eight Premier League games he’s been in charge for.
Wolves have now made a few new signings to help their cause.
But there was one decision recently that Wolves made that trumps everything in the eyes of former midfielder Dave Edwards.
Dave Edwards hails ‘huge’ Matheus Cunha contract decision at Wolves and makes bold admission about Brazilian

One week before the transfer deadline, speculation really picked up about Matheus Cunha.
Ahead of the game with Chelsea, it was claimed Cunha and his agent were stalling over a new contract at Wolves.
After Cunha performed poorly against Chelsea, some wondered if he’d be off to another before the closure of the window. It was after that game that Pereira called Cunha out for his body language.
But Cunha ended up staying, and finally signed a contract extension after scoring in the 2-0 win over Aston Villa.
And that was something massive for Wolves in the eyes of Dave Edwards, who wrote in his latest E&S column: “A successful weekend was topped off with Matheus Cunha scoring that fantastic added time goal, and then for the news that he has signed a new contract.
“That is huge for the football club knowing that he is going to be at Molineux until the end of the season – at the very least.”
Edwards also made a big claim about Cunha, adding: “He could play for any team in the Premier League – he is that good.
“The goal and his new contract will give everyone a huge lift. Both the win and the fact Cunha is staying put means Wolves’ chances of survival were given a huge boost.”
Wolves’ most important decision
Wolves ended the January transfer window positively – but Cunha signing a new contract was potentially the most significant thing that happened.
The Brazilian is such an important player for Wolves, which has been evident for some time now.

It was very concerning when there was all that speculation about him not signing a new deal and potentially leaving the club.
It was paramount that Wolves kept him around and they’ve managed to do that, at least for the time being.
With Wolves currently under threat of relegation, there is no overstating how significant it is keeping hold of a gamechanger like Cunha.
