Dave Edwards left so impressed with one Wolves ace vs Newcastle, he ‘never looks flustered’

Wolves lost again at the weekend, this time to Newcastle United. But one player made a big impression on Dave Edwards.

Vitor Pereira is still searching for his first points of the season.

It’s four defeats to start with, meaning the worst start to a new season in Wolves’ history.

Many expected the team to struggle due to the lack of preparation and following a summer that saw many key players leave.

But four straight defeats is alarming, and Pereira needs to turn things around.

Pereira insisting he can raise the level at Wolves if afforded time, and he will need his new signings to come good as quickly as possible.

And one player Dave Edwards feels could be a great addition, is Ladislav Krejci.

Krejci came in as Wolves’ penultimate signing a few days before deadline day.

The Czech star arrived on an initial loan basis, with Wolves paying £6 million. The club will then pay around £20 million next year to sign him permanently.

Krejci has already taken on more importance after Wolves failed to sign a new midfielder at the end of the window.

And Dave Edwards believes the 26-year-old is already primed to become a key player for Wanderers.

He said in his latest E&S column: “I was really impressed with Krejci in midfield. He was very composed on the ball and I think he’s going to be a really good player for Wolves.

“I think Pereira will find a place for him in the team, whether it’s in defence or whether it’s in midfield.

“His calmness on the ball is very good, his progressive passing was excellent and he never looks flustered.”

Edwards’ comments come after Claire Hakeman also suggested Krejci could ‘play every week’ for Wolves going forwards.

Krejci should become a starter for Wolves

It is a small sample size, but Krejci did look good against Newcastle on his debut and that bodes really well.

St. James’ Park is not an easy place to go and he more than held his own, looking today on the ball.

Wolves need someone in the team with a bit of composure, and there is already now a case for Krejci to be a regular starter.

The fact he lined up in midfield against Newcastle was interesting, but there should be scope for him to play in defence at the moment, with Emmanuel Agbadou really struggling.

Either way, Krejci needs to be on the pitch.
