Dave Edwards has great sympathy for one Wolves player after Sunderland loss

Wolves fell to yet another defeat against Sunderland at the weekend, but Dave Edwards has praised one player for yet another impressive showing.

Wolves are still looking for their first win of the season in the Premier League, and have taken just two points so far.

There was huge disappointment on Saturday, as Wolves fell short at the Stadium of Light. The game was seen as a big opportunity for points, as well as Sunderland have started this season.

Wolves had shown some encouraging signs in the weeks prior, but against Sunderland it was back to square one.

Wolves did create chances, but the quality of those chances was low, and Jorgen Strand Larsen continued to lack impact. After the game, Pereira said Strand Larsen is still struggling with his Achilles and has not been training regularly.

It was an afternoon to forget, but Dave Edwards has moved to praise one ace for his efforts despite the defeat.

Wolves lost 2-0 to Sunderland, with the final goal coming in injury-time through Ladislav Krejci putting through his own net.

The Czech international attempted to cut out a through ball, but diverted it past Sam Johnstone.

It was a moment that rather summed up the game for Wolves, but Edwards did have a positive word for Krejci in his latest E&S column.

He said: “They messed up a corner routine, couldn’t keep the attack alive, and it’s a farcical own goal. It was unlucky for Ladislav Krejci because he had another good game, but the cross wasn’t really going anywhere, he feels like he needs to intercept it and ends up in the back of our goal.

“It was a game that came down to moments and Wolves will have to be a whole lot better in every department if they want to get out of the mess they’re in.”

Krejci has been a shining light for Wolves

If there was one player who did not deserve something like that happening, it’s Krejci.

The 26-year-old has really been something of a shining light for Wolves in recent weeks, and has helped make the backline a little more solid alongside Santiago Bueno.

Krejci won Player of the Month at Wolves for September, underlining the impact he has made and even his October performances so far have been high level.

If Wolves are to have any chance of surviving this season, then it’s looking like Krejci will have to sustain this form all the way through until the end – and others will have to follow suit.
