Wolves are set to officially announce Rob Edwards as their new manager today – and Dave Edwards has devoted his latest column to his namesake.
A new era is commencing at Molineux, following the recent sacking of Vitor Pereira.
Pereira’s position as Wolves head coach had become untenable, and the decision was finally made to relieve him of his duties after the defeat to Fulham.
Gary O’Neil was all set to take the job, but withdrew. It was later revealed that O‘Neil had concerns about Wolves’ structure and direction, more than fan backlash.
Wolves paid compensation to Middlesbrough to get Edwards, and the move has been controversial, with Boro fans accusing Edwards of lacking loyalty.
But what’s done is done, and Wolves fans hope this appointment can save the club from relegation this season.
For Dave Edwards, this is a great appointment by the club.
Dave Edwards reveals what it was like actually playing under Rob Edwards

There is no overstating how difficult a job this will be for Edwards.
Wolves have taken just two points from their first 11 Premier League games, and they will have to create history in order to survive – no other club has ever stayed up with this points return.
Wolves have issues at both ends of the pitch and of course, confidence has been extremely low lately.
Edwards must quickly galvanise the squad, and Dave Edwards really believes this is a smart appointment by Wolves.
He actually experienced playing under Edwards, who once had an interim spell as Wolves manager following the sacking of Walter Zenga, before Paul Lambert came in.
Dave Edwards said in his E&S column: “He’ll watch hours and hours of tape and then he’ll try and showcase the Wolves players in the best possible way.
“I experienced two games with Rob as an interim manager and the detail he put into those two games was incredible. He improved us so much.
“The improvements we made on the training pitch in such a short time gives me real hope and optimism that maybe, just maybe, something can happen.”

Rob Edwards ‘passionate’ about Wolves and ‘obsessed with football’
At the moment Wolves are deflated, and that is understandable after such a poor start.
So it’ll be vital for Rob Edwards to breathe new life into the football club. Essentially, he needs to try and do what Pereira actually did really well when he first came in. He must unite.
Dave Edwards also talks a bit about Edwards’ character in his column, saying: “Wolves now have someone that is so passionate about the club, but is also a very good coach.

“He’s put in the hard yards, he’s done the younger age groups, he went to Telford and Forest Green, he’s managed at all the levels and got experience in the Premier League.
He’s obsessed with football and he was like that as a player. He’s always looking at ways to improve and he’ll have his own ideas about where he can get some quick wins.”
Wolves are massively up against it to stave off relegation. Indeed, it was claimed recently that Wolves now have a 91% chance of going down. But fans can at least take heart from the fact that Rob Edwards will give absolutely everything to try and get the club safe.
