Dave Edwards calls Ruben Neves one of the best Wolves players of all time

Dave Edwards has branded Ruben Neves ‘one of the best Wolves players of all time’.

Neves featured for Wolves on Sunday against Liverpool, and some are fearing that may have been his final appearance for the club.

The star enjoyed a fantastic 2021/22 campaign, and has now been at the club for five years.

He has taken his game to a new level, and it is expected that some clubs will be coming in for him this summer.

Wolves obviously want to keep him, and there have been talks between the club and the player.

But Neves is reportedly open to leaving, and he suggested after the defeat to Liverpool that players need to consider all opportunities in what is a short career.

If Neves does go, as many expect at this point, it will be very hard for people to take

Neves has given the club tremendous service down the years, and he has shown seriously high quality.

And former midfielder Edwards believes he’s one of the best the club have ever had.

He said (Express & Star): “He is probably the best signing Wolves have ever made – apart from picking up Thommo and Bully!

“We had finished 16th in the Championship when he came in, to think what he’s done in five years, I think he’s one of the best Wolves players of all time.”

“I wasn’t lucky enough to see the greats of the 1950s, but modern-day history – from the 80s onwards – has there been a better player at Wolves? I’m not sure.

“I know Steve Bull is an absolute legend with his goals, but in terms of an actual footballer, we’ve been so lucky to have him at our club for five years.”

Edwards added that, if Neves is to depart, Wolves should try to facilitate a deal as soon as possible.

That would then give the club proper time to reinvest the funds.

Few will disagree as Edwards hails Ruben Neves as one of the best Wolves players of all time

This is a fair comment from Edwards.

There are very few, if any, players who have been better for Wolves than Neves.

It is going to be a very tough day for supporters when he leaves.

And if that day is to come some time in the next couple of months, then hopefully Wolves can secure an absolutely massive fee befitting of his the quality player he has become.
