Former Wolves star Dave Edwards has thrown his backing behind a January for Matheus Cunha.
At the moment, Wanderers are in talks with Atletico Madrid to sign the 23-year-old.
It is not yet clear on what kind of basis. But Wolves want to bring him in, as well as his fellow Brazilian Felipe.
Talks are ongoing, and the hope is that Wolves can reach an agreement for the pair as soon as possible.
It is paramount that Wolves conduct their business quickly in January, so that Julen Lopetegui can get new players embedded as soon as possible.
That’s why it is important to lay the groundwork now, despite the window not yet being open.
Cunha is a player that is seen by Lopetegui as someone who can improve Wolves in the final third.
It is well known that Wolves are really poor in attack right now, and scoring more goals is perhaps the biggest thing on the agenda.
In the eyes of former Molineux midfielder Edwards, Cunha would be an exciting addition.
He wrote for the Express & Star: “From the clips I’ve seen of him over the weekend, he’s a very athletic forward player. We know we need to strengthen in that position.
“He seems to be someone who drive at players, he looks a good size physically. Cunha’s fellow Brazilian Felipe, an experienced defender, also appears to be subject of Wolves’ interest.”
It has been suggested that Wolves could be set to sign two strikers in the next window.
That might be because Raul Jimenez could move on in January. There have been new claims that Lopetegui is ready to sanction his exit, despite saying early on that Wolves needed him.

Hopefully Wolves can get this deal over the line.
Cunha is a player who really impressed at Hertha Berlin. He then earned himself a big money move to Atleti in 2021.
He has shown flashes of his quality in Spain. But it hasn’t really worked out for him so far and he hasn’t established himself as a regular.
Perhaps this is down to Atleti’s defensive style under Diego Simeone.
But Cunha is a good player, who can play in several different positions in attack.
