Wolves are bang in trouble after another defeat in the Premier League to Leeds United – and pundit Danny Murphy gave a damning assessment of the performance at Molineux.
The Wolves hierarchy had hoped news of the new contract for Vitor Pereira might have inspired a win on Saturday.
Striker Jorgen Strand Larsen also penned a fresh deal.
But disappointingly, Wolves turned in potentially their worst performance of the season against Leeds.
After taking the lead through Ladislav Krejci, Leeds scored three times before the break, with Wolves gifting the visitors their goals.
Wolves are the worst team in the Premier League at present, and the defending is a big reason for that.
And pundit Danny Murphy did not hold back during his analysis of the game.

Danny Murphy rips Wolves’ defending apart after Leeds defeat

It is already 12 goals conceded in the Premier League – only West Ham United have shipped more after five rounds of fixtures.
For many fans right now, the start of the season has been reminiscent of last season under Gary O’Neil.
It feels like every time a team comes forward, they are going to get joy against this Wolves’ backline.
On Saturday night, Danny Murphy analysed the game on Match of the Day, and tore into Wolves’ defending, with Ladislav Krejci, Emmanuel Agbadou, Yerson Mosquera and Jose Sa all criticised for their roles in Leeds’ goals.

He said: “Here’s Wolves helping them out. There was some really poor defending. Calvert-Lewin, the two centre-halves should have him covered there, he’s in the middle.
“No pressure on the ball. If you play five at the back you’ve got to get pressure out wide and stop the crosses coming in, and he (Calvert-Lewin) just bullies them both. The ‘keeper gets caught in between. It’s a terrific header.
“The mistakes kept coming. I mean, this, just lazy stuff! Silly free-kick given away by Krejci. When the free-kick’s there, you’re always going to give up chances. The ‘keeper, if he just steps a yard and sticks to his side, it’s a super strike, but the goal shouldn’t go in on the ‘keeper’s side. He’s got to position himself better, although it is technically a really good strike.
“And this (Agbadou gives the ball away on third goal), it’s just sloppy. It’s just basic play, and Leeds again really clinical.”
Pereira must ring changes to Wolves’ defence

Wolves’ defending was embarrassingly bad against Leeds and it is time Pereira got tough regarding his team selection.
Yes, Agbadou was brilliant last season. But his form has fallen off a cliff, and he has been costing Wolves goals in most games so far this season.
We know he is a big favourite of the manager, but surely there comes a point where change is needed.
Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |

Dropping Agbadou is also something that could actually help the player himself. He needs taking out of the firing line, and giving the chance to just reset and refocus.
There’s also a case for Mosquera to be dropped and Toti Gomes, although the captain is probably far less likely to lose his place given the balance he brings and the fact he has the armband.
And Jose Sa, who was questioned by Glenn Hoddle for his role in Leeds’ second goal, also ought to be benched, with Sam Johnstone having actually done well against Newcastle United recently.
