Daniel Podence has sent Wolves fans a message after completing a transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab.
After four and a half years at Molineux, Podence’s stay in the Midlands has come to an end following months of speculation.
The 28-year-old leaves Wolves having recorded 108 appearances, 16 goals and nine assists, joining Al-Shabab on a new venture.
While at times it seemed as though Gary O’Neil wanted to keep Podence, an offer that was irrefutable to the player was tabled by Al-Shabab, bringing his playing time in Europe to a close.

Daniel Podence sends message to Wolves fans after completing Al-Shabab transfer
Upon learning that the winger’s move was complete, Wolves fans were shocked at Podence’s decision to begin to post his farewells on social media.
The reason for this was due to Podence’s decision to say goodbye to Olympiacos in a lengthy message, 11 hours before he decided to address Wolves.
Finally, the Portuguese forward took to Instagram to acknowledge the club that employed him for four and a half years, sharing what makes the Midlands club ‘so special’ as he signed off.

“Thank you Wolves for giving me the opportunity to play in the Premier League. It was a crazy experience which gave me the best as a player and a human being.
“Was an honour to play on an always crowded Molineux and having your support every day, no matter if winning at Old Trafford or losing at home. That makes you so special!
“Guys from the team, kit man, physio, doctors, kitchen, pleasure to be with you in the last four years. All the best.”
Several players commented on the winger’s post, including current Wolves players Pablo Sarabia and Toti Gomes.
Wolves got a strong deal for Podence
While it was understood that Wolves wanted €10m for Podence in the summer, Al-Shabab managed to seal a deal for the 28-year-old for only €5m.
The up-front price was far lower than the Old Gold would have wanted although, it wasn’t all bad news as the terms of the deal were laid out.
Wolves have a monstrous 35% sell-on clause on Podence, which could particularly come of use if the Portuguese ace impresses as he did at Olympiacos last season.
Over the 2023/24 campaign, the former Wolves forward contributed to 28 goals for the Greek side in all competitions, causing interest in his services.
It will be interesting to see how Podence fairs in Saudi Arabia, with a lot to be monitored due to the power that Wolves still hold over a future sale.
