Czech media praise Wolves’ Ladislav Krejci for one strong aspect of his play vs Montenegro

Wolves’ new defender has shown his talent in Czechia’s 2-0 win over Montenegro.

Ladislav Krejci put on a dominant performance in Friday night’s action, which was one of three games we’re paying special attention to over the break.

The Czech centre-back showed off his versatile skillset and stood out with the goalkeeper as best performers.

And the media in Czechia were just as pleased with the display.

Czech media laud Ladislav Krejci’s performance, especially in one area

The 2-0 win leaves Czechia in a comfortable lead in their World Cup qualifying group, and the media has singled out Krejci’s performance as a key reason.

Fotbal Zpravy released their player ratings after the game, with Krejci only beneath his keeper in terms of grade.

Michal Travnicek writes: “He impressed with two luxurious long passes, first to Vasil Kušej and then to Václav Černý. However, neither of them capitalised on his excellent ball.

“At the end, he beautifully created the second goal, when he read the game perfectly and sent Jan Kuchta alone to the goal.”

While he wouldn’t be credited with an assist, his passing made a difference in this match. He played 11 balls into the final third, the most of any Czech player. He won all of his aerial duels as well.

Montenegro kept their defence busy, and this publication hasn’t been shy about criticising the others in the back line, but they’re happy with Krejci.

Ladislav Krejci should start for Wolves against Newcastle

There are three spots in the back line, but not three players who absolutely deserve to play.

Emmanuel Agbadou has been awful for Wolves this season. The Ivorian needs to be dropped for at least a game to give him a wake-up call. He’s not the only defender whose spot would be under threat from Krejci, either.

This performance from the new signing backs up the hype that has been building around him.

Krejci’s unique skill set can be a real asset for Vitor Pereira; a ball-playing centre-back who can create chances for his teammates.

It would be a tough Premier League debut at St. James’ Park, but he’s a player who could make a difference.
