Wolves crashed to a 2-1 defeat on Tuesday night against Crystal Palace – but Hugo Bueno left a lasting impressing on some Eagles stars.
Wanderers were unable to follow up their 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
Wolves actually started the game really well, and knocked the ball around with confidence.
A number of chances were created, and it was Adama Traore who popped up to open the scoring for the visitors.
Ruben Neves then came within a whisker of making it 2-0 with a free-kick that hit the post with the last kick of the first-half.
Palace turned the game around though in the second-half, with Ebere Eze and Wilfried Zaha getting the goals.
It was a very disappointing result considering Wolves did take the lead.
But there were a couple of small positives for Wolves to take, the main one being the performance of Bueno, who made his full debut for the club.
He came into the side in place of Rayan Ait-Nouri, who was ill, and put in a fantastic performance full of heart.
He was a constant outlet for Wolves, and his cross for Traore’s header was excellent.
AS have now boldly claimed that Bueno was so impressive on Tuesday night, that some Palace players were actually praising him in their WhatsApp chats.
They report: “The morning after the game, their rivals couldn’t help but comment on what happened. ‘He played a good game well…’ , was read in some WhatsApp chats of Palace players, as they were shocked with the promising Spaniard.”
That claim is part of an interview piece they’ve done with the 20-year-old.
Bueno actually reveals in it that he had spoken to Traore about coming in at the back post, because that is his favourite kind of cross to put in.
Hugo Bueno’s full debut against Crystal Palace was a major positive for Wolves
Wolves officials will be delighted with Bueno’s performance on Tuesday night.
He really did shine against the Eagles, and personally did not deserve to be on the losing side.
In all honesty, quite how AS know about what Palace players are saying on WhatsApp is anyone’s guess. The claim should probably be taken with a pinch of salt.
But it’s nice to think that opposition players could have had positive things to say about a young player making his full debut.
He certainly deserves to be spoken about after such a great display for Wolves.
