Crystal Palace now suffer devastating potential double injury blow ahead of Wolves clash

Wolves eyes would have been on the EFL Cup as upcoming opponents Crystal Palace were in action.

Gary O’Neil’s side will hope to build some momentum against the Eagles, who will visit Molineux on Saturday evening.

Both sides are in desperate need of points, with Palace picking up their first win of the campaign on match day nine.

The Old Gold are still yet to win in the Premier League this season, emphasising the need to perform against Oliver Glasner’s struggling side.

Crystal Palace receive double injury blow ahead of Wolves clash

After picking up a late point against Brighton last time out, O’Neil will be desperate to see a similar show of fight from his players against Palace.

Glasner’s Eagles were flying high in the latter stages of last season however, have seen their levels drop significantly in the opening tests of 2024/25.

It’s a relief for Wolves, who will see the upcoming clash as a huge opportunity to collect their first three points in the league since April.

Form aside, the Old Gold might have another boost of confidence ahead of the fixture, as Palace have injury concerns over two key players.

During the Eagles’ EFL Cup win over Aston Villa, Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton were forced to withdraw in the first half.

Speaking in the post-match press conference after the cup tie, Glasner shared an update on the star duo with a look to Wolves.

“Ebs is too early, he wanted to [come off]. He signalled to us. He said it wasn’t possible to continue,” the manager said.

“I hope that it’s not too serious but I don’t know. It’s not the best information that I got today that Ebs had to leave the pitch.”

“With Adam, I’m very positive because it’s nothing new. I have spoken about it many times – he’s had this groin problem for months.”

Wolves must build on Brighton draw

Palace managed to get the job done against Wolves’ Midlands rivals despite not having their two star players on the pitch.

The Old Gold will be eyeing the development of the duo’s fitness ahead of Saturday’s meeting, with both Eze and Wharton having the potential to dictate the game.

While there may be an injury blow on the horizon for Palace, Wolves must remain focused on the upcoming task, as three points is a must on match day 10 in front of a home crowd.
