Molineux legend Steve Bull has praised Pedro Neto and reckons he looks very sharp ahead of the new season.

Wolves have now played all their pre-season games and are turning their attention to the first Premier League game against Manchester united a week tomorrow.

It’s been a useful past few weeks for Wolves.

Lopetegui has been able to get minutes into legs, and there has been some promising football on show.

Yesterday’s 3-1 win over Rennes was the best Wolves have looked in pre-season, and it was a performance that gave many Wolves fans the encouragement they needed.

Several players are looking good heading into the new campaign.

And Bull reckons Neto is looking especially sharp.

Steve Bull encouraged by Pedro Neto in pre-season

Bull has written about the state of play at Wolves in his latest column for the Express & Star.

He starts off by talking about Neto, believing the Portuguese winger looks in a really good way.

He says: “He has come back in good condition and looks very quick off his feet. He could be brilliant this season.”

Neto was one of the latest players back at Wolves this summer after his involvement with the Portugal U21s at the Euros.

But he does not appear to be tired from that tournament, in which he impressed.

And that is a real boost for Wolves, who have obviously been very quiet in the transfer window so far this summer due to the situation with FFP.

Pedro Neto must stand up and perform for Wolves

Bull is right – Neto has looked pretty good in pre-season.

He’s come back after that U21s tournament in a really good way, and it’s now up to him to perform.

Neto enjoyed a great pre-season last time around, but failed to translate his performances and form into the new campaign. He ended up being one of the most disappointing players, and he then picked up that ankle injury.

He cannot allow that to happen again.

You get the feeling that he won’t. Because he’ll be determined to find the level he was showing a couple of years ago again.

The level that outlined him as one of the best young players in the Premier League.
