Conor Coady tipped ‘fantastic’ Wolves player for success, now he could leave Molineux for £45m

Conor Coady was a very vocal figure during his time at Molineux, and it seems like his lofty prediction about one Wolves player has come true.

Given how important a figure he was at Molineux, it was no surprise to see Coady serenaded by Wolves supporters when he recently visited the West Midlands with Leicester.

Coady was hugely important in Wolves’ rise, playing an integral role in the Molineux dressing room.

The English defender had the pleasure of featuring alongside many talented players, one of whom caught Coady’s eye back in 2020.

Conor Coady recognised Rayan Ait-Nouri’s talent

Joining the club in October 2020, Rayan Ait-Nouri arrived in the West Midlands as a fresh-faced 19-year-old from Angers.

Despite his slender age, however, the Algerian quickly made his mark on the Wolves squad, earning strong praise from then-skipper Coady.

“He’s really sharp. He turns you inside out. He’s got bags of tricks. It’s important we try and help him settle in as much as possible,” Coady told the Wolves website in November 2020.

“He’s a young boy coming from a different country. He’s a fantastic person, he’s brilliant to have around the place, and it’s up to us as teammates and friends to make him settle as quickly as possible and hopefully we’ll keep on going.”

It’s safe to say that Coady’s verdict on the wing-back has aged well over the years, with Ait-Nouri becoming one of Wolves’ best players under Gary O’Neil and Vitor Pereira.

Ait-Nouri now tipped for blockbuster summer move

Coady clearly thought that the Algerian was destined to succeed at Wolves, but he may not have expected him to go on and play for Europe’s elite.

Well, that may turn out to be the case this summer, as Ait-Nouri attracts heavy interest from Man City.

The Citizens, alongside Liverpool, are said to be keeping tabs on the wing-back, with Ait-Nouri likely to cost £45 million this upcoming window.

Matheus Cunha’s move to Man United suggests Wolves may not want to lose another of their star assets, but if a big enough offer arrives, Fosun may be tempted to cash in.
