Midfielder Connor Ronan has suggested he could depart Wolves this summer, after the playmaker admitted his loan spell wit St Mirren is the best of his career so far.
The 24-year-old has been enjoying a fantastic campaign up in Paisley, and stunned spectators this weekend with one of his best ever goals.
Ronan was on target in the 4-2 defeat to Hearts in the Scottish Cup with an incredible shot from distance.
That was his eighth goal of the season, and he will do well to score a better one.
That said, Ronan has a clear aptitude for striking a ball from distance so it’s possible.
He has already scored amazing goals against Rangers, Hibernian and Aberdeen.
Things are certainly going well for Ronan, whose spell with the Buddies is the sixth of his career to date.
Ronan is 24 now, so it will be quite interesting to see what happens with him this summer.
He’s made 13 appearances for Wolves’ first-team over the years, but has never featured in the Premier League.
Speaking about his future, Ronan said (Daily Record): “I will obviously have a think and a chat with Wolves.
“But I have loved my time here. The fans have taken to me from day one and this has probably been my best spell in football so far.
“Obviously I have had a fair few loans at different places, but this is the one I’ve enjoyed the most so far.
“Has he (manager Stephen Robinson) got a chance of keeping me? Possibly.”
Lage needs to take a look at Connor Ronan this summer and make a decision
Ronan is really having a great season up in Scotland, and it’s going to be fascinating to see what happens with him.
One gets the feeling that this could be his last loan at the age of 24. This summer, he will surely either be sold or Lage will want him in his first-team.
The issue for Ronan is that Lage may also see Morgan Gibbs-White as someone who can have more involvement next term.
And then there is young Luke Cundle, who made his Premier League debut and first start this season.
There’s also the possibility Wolves could (finally) buy a new central midfield player from another club this summer.
