‘Clueless’… Wolves fans all saying the same thing after Gary O’Neil update, Fosun sent clear message

Wolves fans have reacted to the latest update on Gary O’Neil’s future following the defeat to Brentford.

Sitting bottom of the Premier League table with just one point, Wolves are in a crisis ahead of the October international break.

As a result of the abysmal performance against Brentford on match day seven, fans expressed their frustrations in the away end and beyond, with the display of the squad far from acceptable.

While Wolves have had the excuse of a difficult run of fixtures to fall back on, the explanation is growing tired, with O’Neil having more to answer for than the difficulty in opposition.

The Old Gold looked extremely fragile at the Gtech Community Stadium, with supporters making their doubts about the manager known.

Heading into the international break, there has been added speculation regarding O’Neil’s future, with a fresh update provided.

Wolves fans take aim at Fosun after the latest Gary O’Neil update

Fosun are in full support of O’Neil, as journalist John Percy reported.

The Telegraph reporter was then inundated with the reaction of Wolves fans, who were not best pleased by the news, as expected.

In his update, Percy said, “Wolves remain fully supportive of Gary O’Neil and will give him time to reverse decline. Six defeats from 7 PL matches so O’Neil may reconsider defensive set-up. While not writing games off, November fixtures appear crucial.”

One fan responded to the news by saying what most are thinking, “How can you reverse a decline that’s been going on for SEVEN MONTHS?”

“Big gamble sticking with him until November, just because we have more favourable fixtures then. At that point we’ll be even further adrift and confidence will be even more shot,” one supporter said with great concern over how the future could look for Wolves.

The update included the glaring fact that Wolves have lost six out of seven Premier League matches this season, which isn’t the full story.

One fan called on Fosun and O’Neil to acknowledge what happened at the end of the 2023/24 calendar, as well as what is unfolding right now.

“Are we ignoring the form from the end of last season? When did we last win a league game? Always liked the championship anyway.”

The supporter has the right to be alarmed by the dissatisfaction of this season’s results, considering that it’s actually been 11 games since Wolves won in the Premier League.

While O’Neil has lots to answer for over the lack of quality from his squad, the manager isn’t the only figure to blame for the mess Wolves are in.

Fans in the away end at Brentford took aim at those above O’Neil, with plenty having a lot to say about Fosun.

“Our owners are clueless and they deserve everything they are going to get. The fans don’t,” one supporter said.

“Hobbs and Shi letting their egos get in the way of what’s best for the club,” another agreed.

Fans then started to express their concern over the future of the club, with a lot riding on whether O’Neil can get his side performing.

“Hope Jeff Shi and Fosun are prepared for the angry fans backlash when we lose to Man City at Molineux. The fans have had enough of your neglect and you deserve all the abuse you will be getting.”

Responding to Percy’s update on how the club view O’Neil, a supporter predicted things to get ‘toxic’ very soon.

“Might change their mind when it gets toxic as it inevitably will very soon. Just on the cusp yesterday but the anger was palpable in the away end and mostly directed at Fosun/Jeff Shi.”

Wolves fans have the right to be angry

For too long, Wolves have been in a cycle of mediocrity, with there a feeling from the top down that it’s acceptable for the club to be merely coasting.

From the lows of Bruno Lage, to not backing Julen Lopetegui financially, to hiring O’Neil and failing to back the Englishman, those higher up at Wolves have lost the trust of the fans.

Unfortunately, the toxicity has seeped down to the football, with O’Neil unable to get his squad up to scratch this term, bracing Wolves for a possible relegation battle if form does not turn around.

There were times last season when Wolves were considered possible contenders for Europe, making the picture of the club today even more dull as mistakes continue to be made both on and off the pitch.
