Wolves travel to Manchester United on Sunday looking to extend their winning Premier League run to five on the bounce.
After Wolves beat Manchester United 2-0 in December at Molineux, a win at Old Trafford would also see the club complete a league double over Ruben Amorim’s side, something Wolves haven’t done for 45 years.
Paul Merson’s prediction of a 2-2 draw means he doesn’t think Vitor Periera’s side will achieve this feat, however.

Interestingly, though, fellow pundit Chris Sutton disagrees…
Chris Sutton predicts ‘miserable’ afternoon for Man United
Speaking to BBC Sport ahead of the weekend’s action, Sutton was complimentary of Wolves’ form under Pereira.
The former Premier League winner said: ‘Wolves have already beaten Manchester United once this season and, on current form, they are favourites this time too.
“Vitor Pereira’s side are flying with four straight wins, and we know how inconsistent United are.”

Despite predicting Bruno Fernandes to score, Sutton added: “At the moment, Wolves look well-balanced, and they are the better team.”
The 52-year-old concluded: “I am expecting [Manchester United] fans to have another miserable afternoon at Old Trafford,” ultimately predicting Wolves to run out 3-1 winners.
Wolves’ record against Man United at Old Trafford
If Sutton’s prediction plays out, it will be only Wolves’ second win at Old Trafford since 1980.
The other victory in that record came three years ago, Bruno Lage’s side beating Ralf Rangnick’s Red Devils in January 2022 courtesy of a Joao Moutinho strike in the final 10 minutes of the game.
History in this fixture is therefore not on Wolves’ side.
Season | Result |
2023/24 | Manchester United 1-0 Wolves |
2022/23 | Manchester United 2-0 Wolves |
2021/22 | Manchester United 0-1 Wolves |
2020/21 | Manchester United 1-0 Wolves |
2019/20 | Manchester United 0-0 Wolves |
2018/19 | Manchester United 1-1 Wolves |
That being said, the win against Tottenham last time out ensured Pereira made Premier League history, becoming the first Wolves manager to win four Premier League games on the bounce.
With his side flying and with Manchester United struggling in the top flight this campaign, the coming weekend presents as good a chance as any for the club to go on and break more records.
