Chris Sutton is predicting a ‘different story’ when Wolves face Man United

Chris Sutton has predicted the scoreline for Wolves vs Manchester United, and the former Premier League player believes something ‘different’ will happen.

The Old Gold are looking for their first win of the season, and with Wolves doing the double over Manchester United and Ruben Amorim last campaign, they do have their number.

However, they will be without Matheus Cunha, who both scored and assisted in this fixture last season.

He is now on the opposite side, and the Brazilian is fit to play Wolves after recent injury issues.

And Chris Sutton has delivered his verdict for the game.

Wolves did the double over Manchester United last season! Hwang, Cunha, and Sarabia scored across the games, but only one is still at Wolves.

Amid their goalscoring woes, can Wolves find an answer for Monday?

Chris Sutton believes when Manchester United travel to Molineux to face Wolves, a ‘different story’ will unfold, but not in a good way for Rob Edwards.

The Old Gold have been far from convincing this season, but for Sutton, the same can be said about Manchester United.

However, with the form that the Wanderers are showing, the pundit thinks the Red Devils may finally give themselves a good showing, and that makes bad news for Wolves.

In his BBC Sport predictions, Sutton said, “One positive for Ruben Amorim is that I don’t ever feel like they are going to concede a load of goals, but they are still not very convincing whoever they play against.

“This should be a different story, which is why I am backing them to win – but I wouldn’t actually be that surprised if they went to Molineux and ended up getting another 1-1 draw.

“Wolves haven’t even managed a goal, let alone a point, for five games, which probably means they are due to score, but I am going with United to keep a clean sheet too.”

Interestingly, while Chris Sutton also would not be surprised with a draw, the Opta supercomputer has predicted the same with Wolves’ chances of a result.

Rob Edwards will certainly be hoping for that outcome, as if Wolves lose, they will match an embarrassing club record.

More bad reading for Wolves with Monday night games stat

The bad omens for Wolves keep on coming, as their record in Monday night football games does not bode well.

Wolves have won just one of their last ten Monday night matches, which have kicked off at 7 pm or later, with that sole victory coming against Everton in November 2021.

The Old Gold won that game 2-1, with Max Kilman and Raul Jimenez netting first-half goals.

Additionally, in the rest of those games, the Wanderers have drawn twice and lost the other seven.

Hopefully, the past remains in the past, and Rob Edwards can inspire a victory. Wolves need it badly.
