Chris Sutton has now delivered his ‘brave’ score prediction for Wolves vs Brighton

Brighton will be a difficult game for Wolves, but the Old Gold will be hoping to cause an upset on Sunday afternoon.

If Vitor Pereira’s side avoid defeat, Wolves can prevent unwanted history. However, that is much easier said than done.

Brighton are flying high, scoring goals with ease at the moment, and Danny Welbeck’s record against the Wanderers is a concern. The Englishman loves playing against Wolves.

The Opta supercomputer has predicted Wolves vs Brighton, and now Chris Sutton has also delivered his verdict ahead of this weekend’s clash.

Chris Sutton has been doing his weekly predictions, and his verdict for the Wanderers against the Seagulls is in.

Wolves are desperate for a win, and they need to start gaining points quickly, as a relegation battle certainly looms at Molineux.

Sutton believes a draw is the likely result, but he has decided on a winner for this game instead via the BBC.

He said, “Wolves gave it a good go against Tottenham last week and almost took all three points – maybe the effect of a new contract is kicking in for Vitor Pereira?

“Being serious, they have lost their first three home league games this season, and with Sunderland and Leeds both doing better than expected, they cannot afford to lose four on the trot, so they need something here.

“I don’t feel like I am doing very well with my Brighton predictions this season – in fact, I’ve not got any of them right so far – so I am not too confident about calling this one.

“This is probably going to end up as a draw but I am still being brave so I have picked another winner. I should probably get an award for being so bold with my predictions, even when I’m wrong.”

The former Chelsea and Celtic forward went with a 2-1 win for Brighton.

Wolves have not beaten Brighton in the Premier League for five years

Wolves’ record against Brighton is quite poor.

Their last win in the Premier League against the South Coast side came in 2021. It was a 1-0 win for the Old Gold, with Romain Saiss scoring the only goal under the tutelage of Bruno Lage.

However, there is a more recent win they can point to. Wolves got the better of Brighton in the FA Cup 5th round in 2024, when they once again ran out as 1-0 winners.

Mario Lemina was on the scoresheet for then-manager Gary O’Neil.

Sunday will be a tough test for the Wanderers, but if they can manage to go against recent history, three points would be an incredible result.

Heading into the international break, finally securing a win would add much-needed confidence to the squad, with two crucial clashes against Sunderland and Burnley coming up afterwards.

However, Wolves fans might not be too confident after the Premier League’s decision for the game on Sunday.
