Chris Sutton can only see one outcome happening in Wolves vs Crystal Palace

Wolves are heading into the weekend’s game as the underdog when they play Crystal Palace, and it is clear that is the position they are in after Chris Sutton’s verdict.

Rob Edwards has taken over from Vitor Pereira after a dismal start to the Premier League season.

11 games winless means Wolves can set an unwanted record if that rolls onto 12 matches, and the new head coach will certainly want to start life at Molineux by avoiding that.

Edwards is already imprinting his philosophy onto the squad, and the Wolves boss has three key things every player must do in games.

There will be a lot of eyes on the Old Gold on Saturday, as intrigue from neutral supporters about how Rob Edwards does will draw more spectators.

And now Chris Sutton has shared what he thinks is going to happen.

Chris Sutton predicts Wolves vs Crystal Palace

It is a tough first test for Rob Edwards, but the former Old Gold player has been in this position before.

Facing The Eagles, after the November international break, will spark déjà vu for Edwards, as the timing of Wolves vs Crystal Palace is the same as his first Premier League win for Luton.

The new Wolves chief got the better of the London side on his last go-around in England’s top flight, and he’ll be hoping for a repeat of history.

However, Chris Sutton is not a believer that can happen based on his predictions via BBC Sport.

Sutton said, “Rob Edwards obviously believes he can keep Wolves in the Premier League, which is why he was willing to leave Middlesbrough to come back to Molineux.

“This is a difficult start for him, though. Crystal Palace are always so well organised and they should have Marc Guehi back in defence after his injury.

“Wolves have dropped points late on in a few matches this season, but I can’t see that being the story of this game.

“Instead, I think Palace will have too much for them and will end up winning pretty comfortably.”

In the end, the former Celtic man has Crystal Palace winning 2-0, and the lack of faith in the Old Gold may actually play into Edwards’ hands.

Wolves fans, how do you see Rob Edwards getting on in his first game against Crystal Palace?

Underdog status can help Rob Edwards

While pressure on Wolves is mounting, a first game against Crystal Palace is not ideal, and with most expecting the Old Gold to walk away without three points, that could aid Edwards.

The expectation to win is not there based on the opinions of many former pros. Peter Crouch is another who predicted Crystal Palace to win.

Additionally, Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville think the new manager bounce will only deliver a draw.

It is a good chance for Edwards to set his team up and play the style of football he wants with no real looming pressure from outside noise.

However, that pressure from Wolves fans and the ownership to turn the ship around will no doubt still be there.

Let’s hope this turns out to be a famous victory.
