Former Wolves striker Chris Iwelumo has heaped praise on Ruben Neves for his improvement in recent weeks.
The midfielder was on the scoresheet in last night’s 2-1 defeat to Everton at Molineux.
Neves converted a cross from Rayan Ait-Nouri, which was the first time he has scored a goal from inside the box for the club (not including penalties) since joining in 2017.
It wasn’t just his goal though, Neves really wowed with his passing and control of the tempo of the game.
It led to big praise on social media after the game, and ex-Molineux man Iwelumo has also commented on the 23-year-old.
He said (Wolves official): “I think he’s been outstanding in the last couple of games, he’s getting it deep, his distribution has been excellent and he’s still getting himself in the box.
“To get a goal like that is something that we all said after the Sheffield United game, can he do that, can he go box to box, can he make his play, can he get in the box, can he score goals in the box, and he’s got all the answers for us at the moment.”
Neves a shining light in a gloomy tunnel
It’s a tough moment for the club right now with the results and the number of injuries and the bedding in of new players.
But the recent form of £50,000-a-week star Neves (Spotrac) is definitely a big positive for Wolves.
He really is a Rolls-Royce kind of player when he’s on song, and Wolves are lucky to have him.
He hasn’t deserved to be on the losing side in recent games, and hopefully other players can raise their games to his standard and the points will come again.
