Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick would love to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers full back Ryan Giles.
Giles was firmly established as the Championship side’s left-back last season, and contributed 11 assists as well.
It is believed his return is of top priority for Carrick who is keen to build upon his impressive debut season in management.
The Boro boss has spoke to the press and answered questions about the 23-year-old defender who impressed on-loan under the Englishman last season.

Carrick refuses to rule out move
Speaking while on pre-season tour, Carrick remained characteristically coy on the potential signing of Giles as reported by Teesside Live.
When quizzed on the chances of a Giles return, Carrick said: “Who knows, who knows. As I’ve said, we’re trying to add to the squad. In certain positions, we’re trying more than others.
“It’s never as simple as that. We obviously have players we’re trying to get, we’ll see how we get on.”
With Boro needing a left-back, a move could be expected sooner than later.
Should Wolves sell Giles?
Giles is currently training with the Wolves squad and looking to impress Julen Lopetegui.
However recent reports suggest the Black Country side are in talks to sign Aaron Cresswell.
Giles has always been considered an exciting prospect with ex-Wolves boss Mick McCarthy saying of him in 2021:
“Ryan is exciting and the crosses he puts in, whether it’s on the right, putting them in left-footed, corners, free-kicks, it’s a real weapon we can utilise.”
A move away is likely the best move for Giles’ early career however we can’t help but feel he is an exciting prospect who could go on to be key under Lopetegui.
