Carlos Forbs tells Wolves fans they can expect two things from him when he plays

Carlos Forbs was Wolves’ final signing of the 2024 summer window – and the winger has now briefly shared what fans can expect to see from him.

Forbs has signed on an initial loan basis from Ajax, with the move expected to become permanent once he’s played a certain number of games – thought to be at least 10.

Forbs was targeted by Wolves once it was decided that Pedro Neto was leaving the club for Chelsea.

Wolves did not act straight away, but sprung into action on deadline day. An agreement was reached with Ajax in the afternoon, and the player then flew over to the UK that night to conduct medical tests and sign his contract.

Forbs also did all his media work, including a first interview – and it was there he spoke a little bit about what Wolves fans can expect to see from him.

Wolves fans were left a little sad when Neto left the club.

He had been a great player and servant, and he very often got fans out of their seats at Molineux.

Some did not like the way he celebrated recently when Chelsea scored a sixth goal against Wolves, which Neto had set up.

But some are still a little sad, and are hoping the team will be able to manage without him.

Wolves had signed Rodrigo Gomes who could well turn out to be an heir to Neto. But Forbs may also be someone in the same mould given what he said at the weekend.

He told the club’s official website: “I’m very direct. I like to beat my man, create and help the team as much as I can.”

Forbs – who revealed Rodrigo had encouraged him to join Wolves – also adds that he is keen to score goals and make assists, and help the team to finish as high as possible in the Premier League.

Forbs set to become Wolves’ next Neto?

With Forbs saying he is ‘very direct’ and likes to beat his man, it is difficult not to think about him being potentially quite similar to Neto.

Neto was very well known for getting the ball in wide areas and looking to take advantage of his searing pace to beat a full-back at every opportunity.

Neto is as direct as they come, and that style of play very much endeared him to the Molineux faithful over the years. He was so exhilarating to watch at times.

Those qualities will be missed. But it seems Wanderers may well have landed another similar player in Forbs, who got all kinds of joy with his direct style when playing in the Manchester City academy.
