Carlos Forbs names the one Wolves player who actually encouraged him to make Molineux move

The dust has only just settled at Wolves after a frantic end to the summer transfer window.

Wolves had a very positive start to the summer, snapping up three new players in Rodrigo Gomes, Jorgen Strand Larsen and Pedro Lima, while turning Tommy Doyle’s loan move permanent.

But Wolves then went quiet for weeks.

The club then came alive with two days to go until the deadline.

Bastien Meupiyou arrived the day before deadline day, before Sam Johnstone, Andre and Carlos Forbs all signed with just hours to go in the window.

Wolves fans are excited to see all of them in action, with Johnstone having actually already made his debut in the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest. The £10 million signing gave a solid account of himself, with Nelson Semedo admitted he already looks like he’s been at Wolves for a while.

One of Wolves’ newbies Carlos Forbs has given an interview with the club following his late move, and admits one player really sold the club to him.

As Wolves were selling Pedro Neto a few weeks ago, it was claimed that Wolves had interest in Forbs.

He was seen as a potential replacement, but it was not until deadline day the club swooped.

Wolves have signed Forbs on an initial loan deal, and the club have confirmed that the deal will become permanent automatically if certain clauses are triggered.

It is thought that Forbs may only have to play around 10 games to turn his move permanent.

Wolves just about managed to get a deal over the line for Forbs, who only flew to the UK in the evening after an agreement was reached in the afternoon with Ajax.

But Forbs, of course, still had to give Wolves the green light himself – and he was quite happy to do so after a chat with Rodrigo Gomes, who encouraged him to sign.

Forbs said in his first interview with the club: “Funnily enough I spoke to Rodrigo, and I asked him ‘How is it?’ and he said he was loving it so far and he said ‘Come, you’re going to love it as well’, and I said ‘OK, cool!’

Agent Rodrigo

It is great to hear that Rodrigo played a part in getting Forbs to the club on deadline day.

Clearly, the former Braga man – who joined earlier this summer for £12.7 million – has been really taken with the club so far and was more than happy to sell the move to one of his friends.

He will no doubt be filling Forbs in about Wolves when the pair go off to Portugal U21 duty this week, and when the players return the winger will surely help him settle in quickly.

It will be exciting to see Forbs in action and also Rodrigo. Both players have a lot of speed and are quick and direct, and it’s now on them to play their way into the starting XI, with competition for places tough.
