Carlos Forbs just did something for the very first time as former Wolves flop dazzles vs Barcelona

Carlos Forbs was the talk of the town last night, as the former Wolves player produced a fine performance in the Champions League.

Carlos Forbs was one of many players to leave Wolves in the summer.

He had spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Molineux from Ajax, but sadly the stint did not work out at all.

Forbs had informed fans of his speed and dribbling ability, but rarely did we get to see those traits, with both Gary O’Neil and Vitor Pereira preferring other options.

Wolves did have the option to buy Forbs at the end of his loan.

But it was very quickly decided that he would head back to Ajax, who were also keen to offload him.

He joined Club Brugge on a permanent deal and Forbs, who admitted he lost his smile at Wolves, is now flying – and last night, he did something for the very first time in his senior career.

Prior to last night, Forbs had been going nicely at Club Brugge.

The winger has been a regular in the side, and had scored three times and made four assists in 18 appearances in total.

Last night though, he delivered a fantastic performance in Brugge’s Champions League clash with Barcelona, which ended in a 3-3 draw.

Forbs scored twice for the Belgian side, which means it was the first time he has scored a brace in his senior career.

Before getting on the scoresheet though, Forbs was on hand to supply the assist on the opening goal for Brugge. He sprung the offside trap on the right side, and then provided a perfect ball across for Nicolo Tresoldi to score.

Barca hit back straight away through Ferran Torres, but then Forbs grabbed his first goal to put Brugge back in front, exchanging passes with Hans Vanaken before bursting through to score. His finish was superb into the far corner as he opened his body.

Lamine Yamal equalised for Barcelona, and then Forbs missed a glorious chance by scooping an effort over the bar.

But he atoned moments later, again getting in behind the Barca backline with this searing pace and having the confidence to chip the goalkeeper.

Forbs actually wasn’t involved in the game all that much, with Sofascore showing he had just 24 touches and completed 9/10 passes. But he came alive when he needed to, helping his team to an important point.

Forbs is the exact kind of player Wolves need

So that’s two goals and an assist for Forbs against one of the best sides in club football playing in the Champions League.

Wolves are often questioned when Vitinha shines in the Champions League and very soon, people may start wondering what Wolves were thinking letting Forbs go.

Ultimately, it was never a question of talent with Forbs.

Unfortunately, Vitor Pereira admitted Forbs just didn’t fit his system at Wolves, which at the time used wing-backs and inside wingers/number 10s.

The great irony now is that Wolves have started to play with a flat back four and more traditional wingers, which suits Forbs.

This season, we’ve seen Wolves lack quality in the final third, and there are no players who can carry the ball and be direct. Embarrassingly, Forbs is the exact kind of player Wolves need at the moment, and his start at Club Brugge will surely make for awkward viewing for Molineux officials.
