Captain Mario Lemina insists Wolves’ new signings will do one major thing this season

Since signing this summer, Wolves’ new additions have already made a big impact on the squad which has led to praise from captain Mario Lemina.

While Gary O’Neil’s first season in charge was a positive one, by the end of the campaign, many flaws in the club were exposed.

One of the biggest areas was the depth of the squad, particularly up top where youth players were forced to be deployed for a good period due to injuries.

Therefore, Wolves have gone about correcting this during the summer and so far, three major new faces have been welcomed to Molineux, not including the permanent acquisition of Tommy Doyle.

Yet, in such a short space of time, they have already left a positive impression on many members of the squad including Lemina.

Despite a quiet last few weeks, Wolves have made some strong additions in the summer transfer window.

Rodrigo Gomes was the first through the door. This was then followed by Brazilian wonderkid Pedro Lima and the prolific striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.

The trio have all been a part of the squad during Wolves’ pre-season tour as they look to prepare for the upcoming season.

When the Wolves captain was quizzed on the key signings, he said: “They’re really positive, their willingness to work, they’re going to have a real impact this season.”

He later added: “I’ve been impressed so far, because they’re really young, but are at a very good level to play. They’re at the level to play Premier League, and we’re going to try to be around them, to make them understand the Premier League and be the best of themselves.”

While it may not seem so at the moment, the quality of the Wolves’ squad is impressive.

So far this summer, only Max Kilman has left the club. Pedro Neto has also recently dropped a hint that he could stay.

If O’Neil could bring in another quality centre-back and more depth in the attacking areas, the Old Gold could easily finish in the top half this season.

Many of Wolves’ issues have been solved in the window so far as further depth has been added either through purchases or returning loan players.

Hopefully, over the coming weeks, O’Neil can bring in a new centre-back as it is currently the most glaring issue at the club.
