‘Bundles of talent’: Wolves U21 coach says there’s a really ‘exciting’ 18-year-old youngster at Molineux now

Wolves are rightfully very excited about the talent of Enso Gonzalez, who continues to adapt to English football.

Enso Gonzalez joined Wolves late in the transfer window following Matheus Nunes‘ move bringing in additional funds.

£5 million was the fee Wolves paid in order to sign the 18-year-old from Libertad.

But staff at Molineux aren’t under any disillusion on the player and understand he will take time to come good.

Speaking to The Athletic, Under 21 boss James Collins explained he is very talented, but so young too.

Collins on Enso Gonzalez

“He’s still only a baby,” said Collins about Gonzalez.

“People (thought) he was coming as a first-team player, but you need some football. That was really good to see him get some minutes and you could see his talent.

“It’s difficult to communicate because he doesn’t speak English yet, but he had a go for us. He’s got bundles of talent and for a young player, he’s exciting. I’m sure he’s exciting for supporters to see.

“He needs to pick up the structural stuff, which again isn’t easy at the moment for him because of the language. He seems to have a good manner and a good way about him and he’s brave on the pitch.”

Under 21 action likely

With first-team actions seemingly out of the question for now, we think Gonzalez should be playing for the under-21s on a regular basis.

Collins seems to believe in the talent of Gonzalez, and has already had the Paraguayan feature once for his side already.

So there’s no better person to guide his development until he is ready for the first-team.

It’s probably a matter of time until he is a regular in the U21’s.

An exciting talent who will be top-class if he is moulded correctly.
