Bruno Lage wanted him at Wolves, now he’s close to being sold for £84m

Wolves are heading towards another summer transfer window where big sales could be sanctioned, leaving supporters feeling perplexed.

Fans have almost accepted that Matheus Cunha is on his way out of Molineux. Cunha has big clubs wanting him and with a £62.5 million release clause in his contract, they are powerless to prevent him from exiting the club.

The Brazilian, who has scored an impressive 15 goals this term, isn’t the only one attracting interest from other further afield.

Joao Gomes is on the radar of Tottenham and many other sides, while Rayan Ait-Nouri is admired by Liverpool.

All three players could technically leave in the summer, and Cunha will become Wolves’ most expensive sale. However, it’s the potential big money coming in that should remind the club they could have pocketed an even bigger fee for one target they missed out on.

Wolves wanted Mohammed Kudus in 2022, now he could leave West Ham for £84 million

In the summer of 2022, Wolves wanted to sign Mohammed Kudus when the Ghanaian was plying his trade at Ajax.

There were talks of Wolves signing Kudus on loan while a permanent transfer was mooted. The explosive attacking midfielder was highly rated at the Dutch giants and was being tracked by multiple big clubs.

But it was West Ham who won the race for his signature, capturing the 24-year-old for a fee in the region of £38 million in 2023.

The attacking midfielder has since starred for the Hammers with a return of 17 goals and eight assists in 72 appearances, including five strikes in the Europa League last term.

The 42-cap Ghana international has seen his stock and value rise significantly since switching to the Premier League, and according to GiveMeSport, West Ham could receive an £84 million offer for Kudus from Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Nassr.

No matter how influential Kudus has been, the East London side wouldn’t be able to turn down such a lucrative offer, as it would enable them to strengthen multiple areas of their squad.

Could come back to haunt Wolves

Although speculation surrounding the players future is rife, Kudus could come back to haunt Wolves for not getting a deal over the line in 2022.

Wolves host West Ham in the Premier League on Tuesday night and the powerful attacker should start in a front two with Jarrod Bowen, another player Wolves wanted to sign years ago.

Kudus only has three goals in 24 appearances this term, seeing his end product let him down massively. But, he will be keen to get on the scoresheet in this fixture, with Vitor Pereira needing to shut him down.
