Bruno Lage has suggested Hwang Hee-chan is unlikely to be available for selection for Wolves against Arsenal.
Wanderers are back in Premier League action on Thursday, and are looking to quickly get over the disappointment of crashing out of the FA Cup to Norwich City.
It was a poor display, and Bruno Lage will be looking for a response.
It’s a huge game, with Arsenal just a couple of points above Wolves in the table.
The Gunners have been erratic this season, but there is no doubt they have some dangerous players in their ranks.
We are coming up to mid-February now, and Wolves will soon be welcoming back some key players.
Long-term absentees Jonny Castro Otto and Pedro Neto are set to return, as is summer signing Yerson Mosquera.
Hwang is also set to come back. But it doesn’t look as though he’ll be quite ready to face Arsenal later this week.
Lage said on the South Korea international (Express & Star): “For Hwang I don’t think we’ll have him, but lets see. We need to see which players we have available to play the game in the best way.”
Following the news that he’ll become a permanent Wolves player, Hwang had said that he was hoping to return to training ‘next week’ (last week).
However, the 26-year-old did not appear in any photos with the rest of his teammates.
Hwang Hee-chan return against Arsenal would be most welcome for Wolves
Wolves could really do with being able to call on Hwang again.
Ideally, Wolves need the Hwang that flew out of the traps when he first moved to Molineux.
He scored four goals in his first seven appearances, but his form took a bit of a dip after that.
He then picked up his injury in the game against Brighton in December.
Wolves haven’t particularly missed him. But there is no doubt about the fact that Lage really likes him.
The manager seemed frustrated about having a lack of wide options against Norwich and so, he’d love nothing more than for Hwang to be available on Thursday.
Sadly, it looks like the game will come too soon.
