‘Bring him home’ – Wolves fans want sensational Molineux return for ‘amazing’ player

Wolves fans are longing for the days when success returns to Molineux as they’ve been made to watch their rapid slide down the Premier League table.

Under the expertise of Nuno Espirito Santo, Wolves qualified for the Europa League on back-to-back occasions after finishing in seventh place in 2018 and 2019.

There were several star names in Wolves’ 2019 Europa League squad, including the likes of Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Rui Patricio and Conor Coady.

Surprisingly, Wolves were linked with Coady in January as talks were held with Leicester City over a swap deal involving Craig Dawson.

A deal never materialised for the Englishman, as Leicester were unwilling to negotiate, but one former star could be available.

Raul Jimenez’s Fulham contract expires in the summer

On Tuesday night, Wolves were beaten 2-1 by Fulham as Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore – two former players – made their latest return.

Wolves fans serenaded Jimenez and Traore, despite losing the game, appreciating what they did for the club during such a special period.

Jimenez, who was dubbed ‘amazing’ by Traore, is seen as a cult hero in Wolverhampton after scoring 57 goals in 166 appearances, cementing his name into the club’s folklore.

Since joining Fulham in 2023, the Mexican hitman has scored 18 goals in 59 matches, including 11 in all competitions this term.

While he’s shown no signs of slowing down, the 33-year-old does see his contract expire in the summer with no talks of a renewal happening just yet.

“It’s an idea, in the end my contract runs out in the summer, let’s see what is decided. At the moment there is nothing, but we have to wait until the last day and see,” Jimenez said as per Telemundo.

“My idea is to continue here for as long as possible, whether [if] it’s here at Fulham, where I’m very happy, it would be something incredible.”

Although he’s happy at Craven Cottage, the prospect of him leaving on a free transfer has sparked conversations of a Molineux return.

Wolves fans want Jimenez to return to Molineux

Wolves fans want to see their Premier League’s all-time top scorer return to the club this summer, despite him turning 34 in May.

“Come on @Wolves, you know it makes sense to bring him home #wwfc,” one fan wrote.

“Bring him home @Wolves,” another said.

“100% take him in the summer as a free as a squad player as long as we sign a younger pacey number 9,” a third replied.

“Bring him home #SiSenor,” someone else commented, also referencing Jimenez’s Si Senor chant that became synonymous with him.

“We have to be looking at bringing him and Adama back,” a sixth pointed out while a seventh said: “Fully aware I’m living in cloud cuckoo land here, but without an offer on the table from Fulham, who knows? Somebody who knows the club and the fans, offers something we don’t currently have, and would be a very good squad option.”

Considering that Jimenez reportedly earns £100k-a-week at Fulham and is approaching the end of his career, it doesn’t make financial sense to sign him. However, for nostalgic reasons, Wolves fans would be over the moon if it did happen.
