‘Brilliant’ player set to miss Wolves vs Liverpool after the international break

Wolves take on Liverpool after the international break – and the Reds could be without Trent Alexander-Arnold.

It has been a rough start for Gary O’Neil at Molineux, but one that was perhaps always somewhat likely.

There was chaos for Wolves with the exit of Julen Lopetegui just before the start of the new season.

O’Neil has come in and done OK.

There have been positive signs. But Wolves have taken just three points from 12 in their first four Premier League games.

And it will not get any easier after the international break, with Liverpool the opponents at Molineux.

But Jurgen Klopp is set to be without a key player for the clash…

Trent Alexander-Arnold likely to miss Liverpool vs Wolves

Yesterday, two players pulled out of the England squad with injuries.

One being Jack Grealish, the other being Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The 24-year-old has picked up a hamstring injury, and the Telegraph reports that he will ‘probably’ miss the Liverpool-Wolves game.

He is expected to be out for a couple of weeks, so the game may come too soon.

Should Alexander-Arnold miss out, then Klopp will likely turn to Joe Gomez at right-back.

Trent would be a big miss for Liverpool

This is a fairly significant development.

Alexander-Arnold – who Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane thinks is ‘a brilliant player’ – is obviously one of the most creative players in the Premier League.

So if he is not fit for this clash then that would be a real blow for the Reds.

But obviously, Wolves have plenty of other threats to think about in this game.

No doubt some Wolves fans will be quietly hoping that Mo Salah won’t be turning out for Liverpool.

The Egyptian is currently being linked with a move to Al-Ittihad for truly astronomical money.
