Brendan Rodgers’ current stance on the Wolves job following Vitor Pereira sack

Wolves have sacked Vitor Pereira with the search for a new manager now underway.

The Wolves hierarchy have acted, with Vitor Pereira biting the dust after a dismal 3-0 defeat at Fulham on Saturday.

Pereira leaves Wolves having taken just two points from 10 games, and having not won in the Premier League since April.

The tide has been turning in recent weeks, and the unsavoury scenes at Molineux after the defeat to Burnley were a worrying sign for the Portuguese.

Now, Pereira has been relieved of his duties.

The new man that comes in has an incredibly difficult job, and there are already some shouts for who will replace Pereira.

And now, Molineux News can provide an update on Brendan Rodgers, who recently became unattached.

Wolves have no time to lose in appointing a new manager.

The club is in dire straits at the moment, and these players need someone to come in and pick them up.

Naturally, there’s been a lot of talk about managers who are currently out of work. And earlier this week, a rather big name in Brendan Rodgers became available, after he resigned as Celtic manager.

And there’s interest from Wolves.

And Molineux News’ transfer expert Graeme Bailey says that Rodgers ‘would consider’ taking the job.

Brendan Rodgers’ Premier League record
Games managed – 312
Wins – 139
Draws – 71
Losses – 102
Win percentage – 44.5%

And on the club’s search, Bailey added Wolves are looking to be relatively hasty: “Fosun have been speaking to people in the last week and they want someone in soon, but they do have the international break so the strict deadline is when they come back from that.”

Rodgers, of course, has huge Premier League experience, having had spells with Swansea City, Liverpool and Leicester City.

Some Wolves fans have already backed a move for Rodgers, but it remains to be seen if the club think he’ll be the best possible fit.

When Wolves decided to sack Vitor Pereira

Hopefully, Wolves can reach a decision on who to appoint as Pereira’s successor as soon as possible.

Pereira was always going to struggle to stay in his post after overseeing such a dreadful performance against Fulham.

We reported after the Burnley defeat how nothing was off the table for Fosun regarding Pereira, and just a week later he has now been sacked – with the owners deciding change was needed after the full-time whistle yesterday.

Bailey said: “He only just survived last week as we reported. Fosun were 50/50… I am told like what happened with Ange at Forest, the decision was made before full time.”

Pereira was then informed of that decision this morning.
