Wolves defender Maximilian Kilman is reportedly ahead of schedule in his recovery from an ankle injury.
The centre-half has been working his way back to full fitness, having sustained the issue back in April.
Kilman went over on his ankle awkwardly during Wolves’ Easter open training session.
He couldn’t feature in any of Wolves’ final six Premier League games, and his absence really stung.
It was an awful finish to the campaign for Wanderers, who didn’t win any of their final seven, losing five and conceding 16.
Kilman had enjoyed a real breakthrough season in 2021/22.
The star was a regular pick for Bruno Lage from the very beginning, and the 25-year-old starred operating on the right of a three-man defence, despite being left-footed.
His performances led to talk of a potential England call-up, before his form unfortunately dipped just at the wrong time.
Wolves fans will be pleased to hear that Kilman’s recovery has been going well.
According to the Express & Star, he’s ahead of schedule.
The player said: “I felt really good and my ankle feels fine.
“I’m happy to be back with the boys and fully training. It’s great to be back out there, especially after a long three months out.”
Massive boost for Wolves with Kilman looking set to fully recover in time to face Leeds United
This is a very encouraging update regarding Kilman.
Originally he was thought to be touch-and-go for the start of 2022/23.
Wolves said he was expected to return at the start of next season, which did cast a bit of doubt on him actually being available for the first game.
But it looks as though he’s going to be fit.
He recently got minutes in the game against Burnley, and the player has said his ankle is feeling fine.
Hopefully, he can come through the pre-season games unscathed.
He’s probably Wanderers’ best defender at the moment, so it would be fantastic if he part of that backline at Elland Road on August 6.
