Wolves fell to an embarrassing 4-0 defeat against Everton in the Premier League on Wednesday night, placing Gary O’Neil in a position of no return.
Heading into this relegation six-pointer, the Wolves boss knew three points were necessary to stand any chance of keeping his job.
But, just like they did against Bournemouth on Saturday, Wolves fell to a 4-0 defeat against Everton and the game never looked like being any other outcome.
Two own goals from Craig Dawson alongside an Ashley Young free-kick and a strike from Orel Mangala handed Gary O’Neil’s men an embarrassing defeat.
Wolves fans have called for O’Neil to be sacked for most of this campaign, and following this latest pasting, supporters feel there is surely no way back for the 41-year-old.

Wolves desperate for Gary O’Neil to be sacked after Everton defeat
It’s become evident in the past two games that the Englishman is never going to win back this fanbase and his tactics are being exploited so easily.
He’s been unable to fix the league’s leakiest defence, and his Wolves side looks so disorganised and easy to break through every game.
With another four goals conceded on Wednesday night, the fans have had enough with O’Neil, sharing their angry thoughts on X post-game.
“I have now joined the Gary O’Neil out club #wwfc that was the most awful game I’ve seen in a long time,” one supporter said.
“There’s absolutely no way Gary O’Neil should be in charge for our next match. And I’d be astounded if he is. Simply awful,” another commented.
“Gary O’Neil looked a broken man then in his interview. Hopefully it’s over for him now,” a third said.
“Humiliation. Don’t expect Jeff Shi and Matt Hobbs to fix this mess. Their incompetence is just as much to blame as Gary O’Neil’s. A complete failure from top to bottom at Wolves,” another replied.
“Gary O’Neil OUT!” a sixth exclaimed.
“If I was Gary O’Neil I would sack myself,” a seventh said.
There’s no way back for Gary O’Neil at Wolves
Wolves are showing all the signs of a side that’s going to get relegated this season if a managerial change isn’t made.
Everton were struggling to score before the clash at Goodison Park but O’Neil’s men somehow made them look like they were free-flowing in attack.
Sadly, despite showing so much promise in the early stages at Molineux, it’s the end of the road for O’Neil at Wolves and it will be a surprise to see him still in the dugout next weekend.
Fosun simply can’t afford to keep a manager in charge who is not only disliked by the fans but is threatening to take the Wanderers back down to the Championship.
