Award nominee says goal he scored against Wolves is now his favourite

Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma scored a goal of the month nominee last month at Molineux, now he admits it is among his favourites.

Scoring in Brighton’s 4-1 win at Molineux last month, Kaoru Mitoma’s goal has now been chosen on the shortlist for best goals of the month.

The goal was truly incredible which involved him picking up the ball before beating several defenders and sticking it past Jose Sa.

Rightly so the goal is the favourite to win the coveted monthly award and will no doubt be a favourite for goal of the season.

Speaking with the Premier League website about the goal, Mitoma explained that the goal has become his favourite he’s ever scored.

Mitoma on goal against Wolves

Mitoma has been on fire this season and a large part of the huge success Brighton have enjoyed thus far.

Speaking on his goal against Wolves he said: “This one,” as he was showed footage of his goal at Molineux.

Continuing he described the goal, saying: “The moment when I beat the opposing player, this moment…

“There was space in front of me and the opposing centre-back was on the right, so there was a big space.

“I thought I could create a one-on-one situation at that moment, so I accelerated.

“I was just going to keep running around and I changed the rhythm a bit. I decided to go for the goal the moment I passed the first opposing player.”

Does the goal deserve to win?

The goal absolutely deserves to win, Mitoma’s goal was top class and would be hard to touch across the entire season.

We aren’t sure if this is a compliment to Wolves’ defence or a negative but it was a truly outstanding goal.

Definitely no shame in conceding like that to a player as silky as Mitoma is.

What a goal, and we hope he wins, as it makes it acceptable to concede if it is voted the best.
