‘April fools’ – Wolves fans can’t believe what they’re hearing about Fabio Silva, opinion is split

Fabio Silva is making the headlines again as the Wolves loanee has been linked to a surprising transfer.

Silva is one of several Wolves players on loan getting experience away from Molineux.

Looking at the nightmares that are unfolding in the West Midlands, it could be said that Silva is in a better place, shining bright in the Spanish top flight with UD Las Palmas.

Having scored six goals in 16 appearances for his loan club, the Wolves loanee is making the headlines in Spain, not only for his recent heroics.

In his most recent appearance, Silva scored against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, generating attention back in England as Wolves watched the 22-year-old star where very few do.

It’s become apparent that it’s not only at Molineux that Silva is generating attention, with the player now linked with a staggering transfer.

Following the striker’s goal against the Champions League holders, a rumour sparked linking the Wolves loanee to another Spanish club.

Silva has been linked to Atletico Madrid, with it reported that the forward is rather appealing to those watching his career unfold in La Liga.

Being a player with no future at Wolves and a striker offloaded by Gary O’Neil, fans in the West Midlands were rather surprised by the news, seeing plenty react on social media.

“For any Atletico fans lurking, this kid is the real deal. Phenomenal. Like the birth child of Griezmann, Falcao, and Aguero (not even biologically possible, but it’s true). £35m would be a steal,” a supporter joked on X.

Others were quite frankly stunned by the report, with one Wolves fan saying, “Bit early for April fools isn’t it?”

After signing for £35m in 2020, Silva has shown very little at Wolves, being branded as one of the club’s worst signings in history.

“Getting him off the books is the number one priority,” a fan said, alluding to the player’s £80k-a-week salary, via Capology

While many were surprised by the news, other Wolves supporters admitted they had a feeling that Silva would take off away from Molineux.

Another supporter agreed with the Wolves fans who had high hopes for Silva, applauding the striker’s links to Atletico.

“You know what good on the lad. Came in to the premier league as an 18-year-old kid got 7 G/A in his first season after the terrible Raul injury. Finding form at most clubs he goes out on loan to. Wouldn’t want to see anything more than him succeed.”

Wolves’ asking price for Fabio Silva has surely changed

Most expected the 22-year-old to leave permanently in the summer following Silva’s nightmare loan spell at Rangers.

The forward was not appreciated at Ibrox, leading to his future being in jeopardy however, it appears that things have worked out for the best for both Wolves and the player.

In the summer, Wolves’ asking price for Silva was £15m, a figure that must be elevated if clubs such as Atletico Madrid are on his tail.

If the striker continues to perform the way he is in Spain, there could be an opportunity for Wolves to raise their demands for the forward, who will surely move on for good in the summer.
