Andy Thompson has said that Wolves have signed a player that breeds confidence in Craig Dawson, and that his experience will really help.
Dawson made headlines at the weekend for grabbing a goal in his debut against Liverpool.
The central defender was on hand to smash in Wanderers’ second goal of the 3-0 win.
Dawson came into the side in place of Nathan Collins, with Maximilian Kilman his partner in the backline.
And the two players both had excellent games.
When Dawson left West Ham United, a lot of Hammers supporters were upset. And it is already clear to see why.
Against Liverpool, Dawson was just solid. He got the goal, but then the rest of his play was superb.
There was never any nonsense, just him getting up to win headers, make tackles and making life difficult for the likes of Cody Gakpo and Mo Salah.
Former Molineux defender Thompson was impressed with the 32-year-old’s display, telling the club’s official website: “I thought he played well and showed his experience. I know he got the yellow card, but he showed his experience getting the yellow card, because he was away.
“He just comes in and he’s no messing, if it’s got to go, and I like that, if it’s got to go, it’s goes into the stand, no messing.
“His finish, he just puts his foot through it. Because he knows if he hits it sweet, they’re not stopping it. You’ve got an experienced player who will start to make the defence look better. And when you’re getting the backbone right, it breeds confidence in the rest of the team and he made a difference, heading and intercepting.
“Kilman’s still pretty young with how many games he’s played. There’s a lot who are young, and you need experience, a mixture.”

Dawson will make for a brilliant signing for Wolves.
It is a huge shame Wanderers could not get this deal done last summer. In the end, there wasn’t much they could do because West Ham weren’t going to sell due to being unable to replace him.
But had Dawson been with Wolves since the start of the season, it’s possible a few more points would have been picked up.
He has brought the experience that has been so badly missed.
He’s a real presence at the back and as Thompson says, his style, and the experience he has, will breed confidence.
