There is a new wave of optimism at Wolves after Gary O’Neil oversaw a second straight victory against Fulham.
Wolves climbed out of the relation zone courtesy of a brilliant 4-1 win at Craven Cottage, with Matheus Cunha again starring for the Old Gold.
Cunha scored two goals and drew comparisons to Dennis Bergkamp, and also provided an assist for midfielder Joao Gomes.
Then, in injury-time, there was a fourth goal of the season – and first in the Premier League this term – for Goncalo Guedes.
The Portuguese was again fairly muted with his celebration and some have speculated that he is still keen to leave Molineux fairly soon.
But Andy Thompson was full of praise for the attacker, believing it was a moment he deserved.

Guedes now has four goals for Wolves this season, taking him level with the man who is currently playing ahead of him Jorgen Strand Larsen.
But Guedes has scored his four goals in just 280 minutes of time on the pitch, compared to Strand Larsen’s 1000.
He’s still yet to start in the Premier League which is probably frustrating for the former Valencia man.
But Guedes has definitely looked good when coming on in games, and Andy Thompson has liked what he’s seen from his this season.
He said on Matchday Live Extra: “I think he deserved it. He stayed at the club, the club could have sent him on loan but they’ve believed in him and said ‘Look, we think you can do a job here’.
“I just think that he’s worked so hard. You can see he’s working hard. He deserved a goal for all the efforts.
“You can see when he comes on, and it’s difficult because it’s a waiting game isn’t it, because he isn’t going to get much game time because of Larsen playing up front.
“But I just think he’s bided his time. He looks lively when he’s ever come on, and he’s got his goal which is absolutely great and I’m pleased for him.”
Guedes deserves to start for Wolves
It was nice to see Guedes getting on the scoresheet in the Premier League, which is something that hasn’t happened since November 2022 when he played against Brighton.
He’s in a bit of a strange situation at the moment. There continues to be speculation about his future, with Villarreal thought to be keen to re-sign Guedes. It’s also been claimed Guedes would indeed be open to joining Villarreal.
We don’t know at the moment if that’s a move he’d be interested in.

Goals – 4 |
Assists – 1 |
But hopefully, he doesn’t go in January because he’s clearly someone who has plenty to offer for Wolves – four goals in just 280 minutes of pitch time is undoubtedly impressive.
Hopefully, we’ll see him start a Premier League game soon.
He cannot be far away from that, with neither Rodrigo Gomes nor Jean-Ricner Bellegarde having stood out massively against Fulham.
A frontline of Cunha, Strand Larsen and Guedes is something many would like to see.
