Wolves have a number of players on international duty at the moment, but one man who won’t be playing over the current break is Joao Gomes.
Joao Gomes has been involved with Brazil since making his debut against England in this same international break last year.
He’s accrued nine caps for his country so far.
But for Brazil’s upcoming games against Colombia and Argentina, there was no call-up for Gomes by manager Dorival Junior.
This was slightly surprising, with Gomes having really impressed for Wolves over the last two months or so.
Andre and Matheus Cunha both received call-ups, and the former has given his reaction to his midfield partner missing out.
Andre reacts to Joao Gomes’ Brazil snub

To put a positive spin on this, Gomes – who is sporting a striking new hairstyle at the moment – has played a lot of football for Wolves this season and there will now at least be a chance for him to recharge his batteries.
The player will no doubt be disappointed.
But Vitor Pereira will likely be secretly pleased that one of his best and most important players can now rest up.
Andre spoke about Gomes being overlooked before heading off to join the Brazil squad, and believes his midfield partner will react in the right way.
He said: “Cunha and I also wanted Joao to be called up. He works hard, and he is an extremely important player here, and he has every chance of being in the national team.
“I hope this is a reason for him to keep working hard, and be called up in the next ones.”
Joao Gomes will be a Brazil regular eventually
So Gomes did not get a call-up this time which is a shame, as he has been playing well for Wolves.
It has been a tough time for the club, but even during poor performances, Gomes was also someone who still stood out with his amazing work-rate.
