Andre opens up about ‘dream’ Wolves transfer and the theatrics of his deadline day move

Wolves midfielder Andre has opened up about his deadline day transfer to Molineux from Fluminense.

The 23-year-old arrived in England on deadline day to commit his future to Wolves, signing in a £21m deal from Brazilian club Fluminense.

During the summer, it seemed as though a different Premier League club would sign Andre, who fortunately ended up joining Gary O’Neil’s project.

It’s been a hectic few weeks for the midfielder who returned to Brazil just days after making the trip to Wolverhampton to report for international duty.

Andre opens up on deadline day transfer from Fluminense

Currently on international duty with Joao Gomes, Andre recently sat down with Brazilian media to discuss his dramatic deadline day transfer.

The midfielder explained how crazy his schedule had been in the week of his transfer, as Wolves tabled an offer to Fluminese less than three days before the window shut.

“It was pretty quick. The transfer came through on Wednesday. I travelled to England on Thursday and had my tests on Friday,” Andre explained, via Premier League Brasil

If travelling from Brazil to England wasn’t exhausting enough, the 23-year-old then signed his deal and was named in the matchday squad in Wolves’ duel with Nottingham Forest.

“Then I was called up for the game against Nottingham. On Saturday, I came on and made my debut for my new club. Then I flew back to Brazil to report to the national team.”

Andre might have been tired from his whirlwind week however, the deadline day arrival still took the time to thank the supporters for the love at the City Ground, being the last player to leave the pitch.

Andre calls Wolves move a ‘dream’

Andre arrives in the Premier League as a player known by many clubs, as the midfielder generated a lot of interest following his impressive career at Fluminense.

In 2023, it was reported by 90min that Manchester United, Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool were eyeing the Wolves man, who remained at his boyhood club that season due to their bustling campaign.

Andre shared his admiration for those at Fluminense, who made his Premier League ‘dream’ come true by sanctioning an exit this summer.

“The relationship has always been clear between my manager, me and the board. We made an agreement. Last year, it was to focus on the Libertadores. And this year I would leave regardless of the offer that came in.

“I’m fulfilling a dream of playing in the Premier League and the Fluminense board have kept their word.”

Being the combative yet elegant distributor of the ball that he is, fans will be excited to see more of what Andre has to offer in the coming weeks, as the 23-year-old is in line to make his full Premier League debut against Newcastle.
