Wolves remain in a difficult moment, but Rob Edwards is slowly proving a popular appointment – and Andre’s new claim really speaks to his human nature.

Rob Edwards has been in place as head coach at Molineux now for around five months.

It was a very difficult start for him, as he inherited a royal mess created by Vitor Pereira, Domenico Teti, Jeff Shi and Fosun.

After being heavily criticised for leaving Middlesbrough, he then lost his first seven games.

Just lately though, Edwards’ labour has started to prompt change, with Wolves picking up 15 points under him in total so far.

Performances have been better, but midfielder Andre has moved to also praise Edwards’ empathy, as he shared a personal experience.

Rob Edwards’ personal touch proves his leadership at Wolves

When Edwards first arrived, Andre was actually in Brazil dealing with his son who was unwell.

The new manager reached out immediately, and that decision has seemingly already shaped how players view him inside the club. It was a simple action, but one that has translated directly into trust, commitment, and a visible shift in the environment at Molineux.

Andre gushed (via Wolves official): “He’s a top person, firstly. When he came I was in Brazil as my son was not well, so he sent me a message and this was important. First, you need to be a good person, then be good at work.

“On the pitch he gives me a lot of confidence to play. He says, ‘You are a top player’ so every day we fight, fight, fight. So, I’m very happy working with him, he’s a top gaffer and a top person, and I want to help him a lot. I’ll give all of my life inside the pitch to help him.

“I’m really enjoying my time here at Wolves, I’m enjoying everyone around the club, so it’s good to give back to those who support me.”

Andre also spoke about his happiness at being at Wolves this week on Twitch, suggesting he would stay at the club for a few more years.

Clearly, Edwards has partly contributed to the player’s stance.

Wolves culture improvement under Edwards is clear

That interaction reflects a wider shift, Edwards said to have improved the culture immensely at Wolves since taking charge. The environment has moved towards direct communication and accountability, and players are responding to that clarity.

When he came in, Edwards made a considered effort with everyone, and insisted on players and staff referring to him by his name, for a more friendly feel.

He also ‘took part in strategy meetings with other members of the leadership team, even if they do not relate directly to matters on the pitch’.

Edwards has established his authority through subtle actions that players and staff recognise immediately, and Andre’s reaction provides a clear example of that impact.

With results and performances improving, Wolves do appear to be in good hands with Edwards.

Of course, a tough moment is on the horizon.

But he clearly has a way about him that will hopefully see players really buy into him, ready to make Wolves successful again in the future.
