An impressive PL statistic has emerged about Wolves ace Hwang Hee-Chan

Hwang Hee-Chan has been sublime for Wolves this season to date with 10 Premier League goals, now his clinical finishing has been highlighted.

Wolves have been a huge improvement this season in comparison to last season under Julen Lopetegui. This is highlighted by the difference in attacking prowess under Gary O’Neil.

Wolves have already scored 27 goals in 2023/24 according to SofaScore which stands just four short of the tally for last season’s entire campaign which was 31.

A massive amount of this success – over a third to be precise – can be attributed to Hwang Hee-Chan‘s tremendous form for Old Gold.

Specifically, he’s scored more in 19 games this season than he did in his previous 57 games for Wolves. Now, the true nature of how brilliant his goalscoring has been is revealed.

Hwang Hee-Chan is as clinical as they come

Hwang has scored 10 goals this campaign from just 11 shots on target under O’Neil which demonstrates just how clinical he is as he averages 0.53 goals per game this campaign according to the Premier League on X.

This equals a brilliant 90.9% success rate which just shows to importance of Hwang. Credit however must go to the boss as he’s coached Wolves to the point that Hwang is getting better chances more often.

In his previous 57 games before O’Neil arrived, Hwang had an expected goals tally of just 7.34 while this season he’s managed 5.72 which is a significant improvement.

Hwang’s clinical finishing has been a catalyst in Wolves’ rise up the table to the point where they now sit 11th just four points adrift of Newcastle United in ninth.

As weeks go by, Wolves look more and more like they made an outstanding decision in securing the mentally strong forward to a new contract.

Hwang’s contract looks better and better every week

Hwang’s new contract – which runs until 2028 at least – was only announced on December 21st and already it looks like being an outstanding piece of business.

The South Korean international has been a revelation for Wolves this campaign and no doubt his excellent form can be attributed to O’Neil given the correlation and the fact Hwang has praised O’Neil.

He’s gone from a player who many fans likely were baffled by – to one who’s the first name on every fan’s teamsheet and his absence in the next month for the Asian Cup will be a sore miss for Wolves.

Hwang will now be keen to round out the festive period with yet another win on Saturday as Wolves come up against Sean Dyche’s Everton who are now winless in three.
