Fabio Silva’s move away from Wolves spelled the end of a long saga, but already, there’s a fresh problem that has left the Borussia Dortmund fans less than pleased.
It was accepted fairly early in the summer that Fabio Silva would leave Molineux after an unsuccessful five-year stint at the club.
Silva posted a heartfelt goodbye message to Wolves fans before departing, which was subject to scrutiny after an almost identical farewell from Christantus Uche.
But that wouldn’t be the last drama for Silva this week, as reports from Germany reveal.
Fabio Silva brought an injury from Wolves and will be out for three to four weeks
Dortmund were made aware of an issue with Silva during the signing process, but that didn’t dissuade them from moving for the Portuguese striker.
Sky Sports Germany reports: “Fabio Silva brought adductor problems back from England – something BVB immediately noted during his medical.
“The Portuguese is expected to be out for at least three to four weeks with his injury.”

While Dortmund were always aware of the injury, their fans were not. And given the £23 million fee for Silva, they’re not thrilled about the news.
The article states: “Reports of Fabio Silva’s extended absence are causing unrest among BVB fans.”
The signing club aren’t stuck for strikers at the minute, with Maximilian Beier and Karim Adeyemi fit and ready. The plans for Silva won’t be affected.
Dortmund see Fabio Silva as a long-term project to replace Serhou Guirassy
Silva signed a contract with the German side until 2030. Dortmund wouldn’t be put off by a knock that might keep him out for a few weeks, when they want him for a few years.
As Sky Sports Germany puts it: “The club sees potential in the 23-year-old – and also a potential successor to Guirassy.
“Should he leave the Ruhr area after a successful season, possibly for a large sum of money, they hope Silva will provide immediate relief.”
While Silva hasn’t shown the potential to fill that kind of role in his time at Wolves, at just 23, he is only entering his best years.
Wolves and Silva parted ways on good terms, and everyone at Wolves will be hoping to see him succeed in the Bundesliga. Once he gets back to full health and regular minutes, then Dortmund fans can reach a verdict on whether to panic or not.
