‘All of the noises’: Journalist shares what he’s been hearing about ‘raw’ £5m player at Wolves

Enso Gonzalez is reportedly very happy at Wolves and is settling in well.

The teenager was one of four late signings by Wolves in the summer.

He arrived the day before transfer deadline day, with Wolves paying around £5 million to sign him from Libertad.

We have not yet seen Gonzalez in first-team action.

But he’s been in and around the squad, and has been part of a few matchday squads.

So far, Gonzalez has turned out a couple of times for the U21s and has had some lively moments.

But it’s clear it will be some time before he gets a proper chance in Gary O’Neil’s first-team, but journalist Liam Keen has made some encouraging remarks about the starlet…

And at point, there is mention of Pedro Neto, who has been outstanding so far this term.

There was a suggestion that Gonzalez could eventually a long-term replacement for Neto.

He’s some way off becoming that, but Keen has said the youngster is settling in well and is happy.

He said: “Enso Gonzalez is sort of in that area now where, the path is sort of in front of him. You’ve got a path to regular Premier League football at a very good, historic football club. There will be a lot of things that will need to go for him in terms of luck. Equally, a lot of it is down to his hard work and his effort.

“All of the noises I’m getting out of Wolves at the moment is that he’s a very happy, smiley, bubbly character, he’s settled in well.

“If all of those things go right at the very beginning, and it seems like they have so far, then it leaves him with a great foundation to build upon that. But there’s a lot of work to go. He’s very raw and very young. He’s got to learn the culture and the language.”

Gonzalez shouldn’t worry about the first-team for now

It is good to hear that Gonzalez is very happy after making his move from Paraguay.

It must be a pretty daunting thing to come over to a Premier League club from South America at the age of 18 without being able to speak English.

James Collins admitted Gonzalez was nervous during the U21s game with PSV Eindhoven on Monday night.

At the moment for Gonzalez it is all about getting comfortable.

He needs to be going into games feeling totally at ease, and that will come eventually.

Once he starts to understand tactical plans and communicate a bit better, he will surely be in a better place to show his quality.

For now, it’s just about navigating what is a huge change in his life.
