Wolves manager Vitor Pereira has no doubts that a Premier League move was the right decision for him in December.
After Gary O’Neil was sacked by Wolves, the club’s hierarchy had to ensure that their next hire was right.
Pereira arrived when the Old Gold were sitting five points from safety down in 19th, joining the club with no Premier League experience after leaving Al-Shabab.
Though Pereira wasn’t one of Wolves’ top candidates to replace O’Neil, it quickly became apparent that the Portuguese coach was the perfect man for the job.

Vitor Pereira comments on Wolves ambitions
Pereira enjoyed a statement start at Wolves, becoming the first manager to lead the club unbeaten in his first three games in the Premier League era.
The 56-year-old is relishing his time in the West Midlands, as Pereira even revealed he spends time with fans in the pub after match days.
Wolves struck gold with their manager however, the man himself seems to think he struck gold with Wolves.
“I feel I have arrived in the position that I tried all my life for and this is the happiness that I feel in this moment,” Pereira said about his move to the Premier League, via Express and Star.
“Of course, I prefer if our position in the table was not this one, but I want to create something strong step by step.”
When addressing the media, the coach opened up about the steps he’s taken with his squad in order to turn things around, a plan of action that he vows to complete.

“When we arrived here, the first target was to be defensively more consistent. In the game, in the tactical organisation and in set-pieces. After, another step, to give different tools to the team to start to create chances to score.
“The third step is to understand the moments that we must go fast and the moments that we need to keep the ball and to have quality in possession, to control the game, not only defending, but with the ball. This is step by step.”
Pereira has brought confidence to several Wolves players, something the manager insists is crucial to lead his squad to brighter days.
“If the results help to believe in the idea that we are proposing, the confidence comes, the players believe, we are together and we can connect them tactically and mentally. Emotionally too.”
Turning point possible at Wolves with Pereira
The only criticism so far of Pereira is that Wolves didn’t hire the former Porto coach soon enough.
As a result, the Old Gold seem to be stuck in 17th place, but what is now traceable is hope for the future, something that’s been long awaited.

O’Neil and Bruno Lage had their faults, as did Julen Lopetegui, who left due to not being sufficiently backed by Fosun.
Now, the owners have been left with a fortunate situation, a passionate manager who is not only making the squad better, but is committed to the project.
Pereira now needs to be supported by those above him in order to make the most out of his time at Wolves, with his first full season fast approaching.
