Wolves are in a perilous position at the bottom of the Premier League table, with Gary O’Neil fortunate to still be in a job at Molineux.
A promising start for O’Neil at Wolves has unravelled into a nightmare, as the Wanderers boss has won just one of his previous 20 league matches.
This season, the Old Gold have failed to win any of their first 10 games and currently sit bottom of the Premier League table.
Ahead of their massive relegation six-pointer against Southampton on Saturday, Wolves have called for O’Neil to be sacked, with patience understandably wearing thin.
That said, many outsiders believe the 41-year-old can turn the situation around, perhaps starting against the Saints.

Alan Shearer thinks Wolves will survive in the Premier League
Remarkably, the Wolves manager still commands the backing of many pundits and those outside of the club.
Darren Bent has backed Wolves to survive this season, feeling the club are in a bit of a false position right now, while Simon Jordan has also defended O’Neil.
Despite the current negativity surrounding Molineux, Alan Shearer also thinks the Old Gold will survive this term and believes they are capable of being better than three other sides in the division.
Although Shearer also acknowledges that the results over the next month could be ‘crucial’ in their survival bid, with the Newcastle United legend sharing his verdict in The Athletic’s latest Q&A.
“Cliche alert: it’s a results business and the results are not there,” he wrote. “If you look at the bigger picture then Wolves have had really tough fixtures, but the next month is crucial time. If results don’t change, then you’re in the dodgy territory of pushing your luck.
“From what I’ve seen of Wolves, they’ve got enough to stay up. They’re definitely in a relegation battle but they are capable of being better than three other sides. But they — and the manager – need wins now.”

Alan Brazil shares verdict on abysmal Wolves record
While the above pundits remain positive about Wolves’ chances of staying up, talkSPORT’s Alan Brazil has labelled their record of one win in 20 as ‘frightening’.
“I can’t get over that. Just one win in 20. That’s frightening,” Brazil said live on air.
The Wanderers have won just one league game since April, and that came against a side who were relegated from the Premier League last term, Luton Town.

To put it simply, failure to take all three points this weekend against Southampton could see O’Neil and his staff sent packing.
And while he can blame a difficult run of fixtures and in some cases bad luck, he can have no complaints if that is the conclusion after this weekend.
