‘Agreed’: 21-year-old about to depart Wolves, medical booked today – Fabrizio Romano

Another player is about to leave Wolves, with Luke Cundle set to join Plymouth Argyle on loan.

The youngster has not really featured for Wanderers in pre-season.

The 21-year-old returned to Molineux this summer having spent last season on loan at Swansea City.

That was a fairly successful spell, with Cundle making 35 appearances across all competitions.

There had been some talk about Cundle going back for a second spell at the Liberty Stadium.

But it would appear that a fresh move now awaits.

Luke Cundle set to join Plymouth on loan from Wolves

Last night, journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Cundle was set to join Plymouth for the upcoming season.

He said: “Wolves midfielder Luke Cundle [2002] has agreed to join Plymouth Argyle on loan deal until June 2024.

“Told medical tests have been booked on Monday.”

Seemingly, Julen Lopetegui is more than happy with the midfield options he current has at Molineux.

He can call on Mario Lemina, Joao Gomes, Boubacar Traore, Joe Hodge, and Matheus Nunes.

He can also use Pablo Sarabia or Matheus Cunha as a number 10.

Another loan move the right call for Luke Cundle

So it looks as though Cundle will be spending another season away from Molineux.

That is probably the right call, and one that doesn’t come as too much of a surprise.

Cundle’s lack of involvement for Wolves in pre-season perhaps always pointed to a fresh loan move.

It will be a good challenge for him.

Plymouth, who took Wolves defender Nigel Lonwijk on loan last season, gained promotion to the Championship for the coming season.

And so, the objective for them will be to fight to stay in the division.

It’ll be a good opportunity for Cundle to show his steel as well as his technical ability.
